magnetic field on earth
i saw on tv that magnetic field on earth is not constant.it keep changing its direction from north to south in every 2 lakh years.from past 300 years the strength of magnetic field is decreasing fast.is it true that soon earth will lose its magnetic field or take a turn of 180 degree(as done in past)? what will happen after that

Hi Maxnatasha,
Wow, you certainly have alot of questions. Inquisitive minds are a blessing.
As to this particular question: I too saw an exposé of the 'End of Times' on the History Channel which discussed this recurrence of polarity shifts. I've not seen any other corroborating evidence of this, nor any evidence to the contrary. So, for the sake of argument, I'll go on the presumption that this is possible.
If astro-physicists are accurate, and a major alignment of the Earth, the Sun, and the Black Hole at the center of our galaxy does take place sometime during the year of 2012, then a major polarity shift would be the logical result. How dramatic a shift has not been determined. For that matter, since no one on this planet has ever experienced such an occurence, it's hardly even imaginable.
Since magnetic polarity is the root of the Earth's orbital tip, then most likely our orbit will shift. That could have an impact on how near or far from the Sun the Earth travels in it's orbital pattern. This would predicate more dramatic climate shifts, for sure.
Now depending on how the Earth is aligned on its own axis when the influcence of the black hole is felt by the Sun, we may well experience an axis shift as well. This would relocate the equator, and would therefore affect climate on the entire surface of the Earth. According to the geophysicists who were cited in the exposé, the equator used to run through the North Pole, meaning that that region was previously sub-tropical.
Of course, how much of an axis shift might occur would depend and the positioning of the Earth at such a time as the the predicted galactic alignment were to occur.
The short answer to your question is that the possible ramifications of such a galactic alignment are unfathomable. What I can say with absolute certainty is that if such an occurrence does take place, its not going to be pretty!
