I have a wireless internet base connected to one of my computers and my husband wants to connect it also to his computer. How on earth do we go about this? I think we need to set up a network between the two computers, but I don´t know how to do this. Please help as I´m having to give up too many precious work hours so he can download music!

no, you do not need to setup a network to achive that but you do need to configure your home network from your computer network connections. and you need to have network interface card on both of the computers and can directly connect both the computers with their a network cable. you need a special type of cable not usual nic to hub cables but a nic to nic cable.

We also have a wireless connection and my husband is about to set up another laptop to connect to the internet. I asked him how he was going to do it and he said that he went out and bought a "wireless - G notebook adapter " for the second laptop. I'm not sure how thats going to work but I will know in an hour or two when he gets back from his dentist appointment.

how does the first computer connect to the network? i assume its by wireless card so you'll just have to purchase another wireless card and install it on the 2nd computer and you should be a ble to hook them up

the best way to connect two pc's on a single internet connection is by using a hub.
u can use a 10 mbps hub or 100 mbps hub depending upon the speed of ur internet connection.
its really easy.
check the ip of 1 pc.
suppose its 1.1.1.2
then set the second pc's ip as 1.1.1.3 and rest of the settings such as default gateway, subnet mask, DNS settings should be kept same.

This is a simple enough process. Open up My Network Places and select "Set up a wireless network" from the options on the right. You can simply follow the prompts and set up the connection in exactly the same way that you created the connection on the other computer. As soon as the connection is created both computers will be able to access the internet independantly.
You would only need a network between the 2 computers if you wished to share files etcetera, and this is also a simple process. Make sure that both computers are using the same workgroup name for a home network, then enable file and printer sharing on both computers. You can select which folders are accessible.
