Opinions on Abortion?

March 7, 2007 5:15pm CST
Hi, I've been wondering alot recently about people having different opinions about abortions. Personally I'm against them and I would never have one. I am of the opinion that if you are sexually active then you should also be able to take on the responsibility of those actions. Personally I know if I got pregnant now, my family would not be happy as it would disrupt my university studies and things, but I would never consider having an abortion either...even if my family tried to force me to. What are your opinions? ~ Vicky ~

I also have never had an abortion. But I think it's important that women have the right to have an abortion if they want one. Whether you agree or not, women should have this right. I have always been very careful about birth control, but what would happen if you were raped and became pregnant, or if you knew that you were gonna have a baby with overwhelming medical problems. Would you consider an abortion then? I like the fact that I have a choice.

You are right.you gave a good answer.i'm also of the same opinion but the problem is that many other women would make an abuse of that option and this is exactly where many people and nations are against any sort of abortions. it is sad for those women who really need to have an abortion but because of a handful of them abortion has not been legalised in many countries.i'm i right?

i see where your coming from...but my point is some women use it as a form of contraception and aren't very careful themselves...and as poom said, they abuse the choice

Exactly right. What happens if you take away that right? Women turn to back alley abortions and that's how they die or become infertile due to a massive infection from non-sterile equipment or doctors who are too nervous about getting caught that they can't do a good job.

I'm vehemently pro-choice because I believe that forcing other people to live *their* lives according to *your* personal beliefs is the only true evil of the world. People should mind their own buisness. Anything that interferes with someone else's life or quality of life against their will is wrong.

NO whats wrong is murdering your own kid!!!Not only should it be iilegal ...people should get punished for it.Theres other options. If you dont care that much about your own flesh and blood to murder it then you should have no problem with having the baby and giving it up for adoption. You say its evil to tell someone not to have an abortion?DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING?It is evil to murder your own child!!!Everyone has the right to live.Who are you or anyone else to take that away from a llittle innocent baby that has no idea what is going on?Would you ever take a cat and just murder it?Probably not...but you can kill your own baby?SICK

As I said before, I do not believe that a first trimester fetus is an "innocent little baby". And I do care about my own flesh and blood. *MY* flesh and blood, not the forming flesh and inscreasing blood cells of a first trimester fetus. I already exist, think and feel pain. It does not. Therefore, I am more important. As is any other woman seeking an abortion. You have no right to tell any woman what to do based solely on *your* personal belifs that she does not share.

you are so cold. how can you judge what a person feels about experiencing abortion? I doubt you have ever even been pregnant and if you have you probably did an abortion procedure on your self. I pray you never have any kids, pitty them if you do.

I'm against it too. Espically since you can adopt a child out and also there are so many women that want kids and can't have them

I definitely oppose to aobrtion. The baby is innocent, you cannot just simply 'kill' it just because you had done somthign worng and you regret, it is cruel, both to the baby and to the mother, if you actually know the process of abortion , I think you or your partner will not do it.. Please consider the results before you do something

How do you know the baby can't feel anything? I have read stories of nurses who witnessed partial birth abortions and they stated that as the doctor punctured the baby's skull during the precedure, they baby jerked and stiffened it's little body. Sounds like the baby felt it to me.

I don't have kids, I never intend to have kids and if I ever get prengant, I will happily get an abortion. I do not believe it is "part of me" any more than blood and I do not believe that a first trimester fetus is a "sweet little baby". It's a fetus with no more sentience than menstral blood. I don't believe something has rights or "will" unless it has a sentient thought process. And the more intricate the thought processes, the more importance the creature deserves. Which is why I am not a vegetarian, either.

I agree with you . if no valid reasons, don't abort. abortion will affect your health and pregnancy again. Remember some of women couldn't pregnant forever, because of abortion.

I personally against it..you should be always careful..But if something goes wrong and especially if you are not married too, then I would suggest you go for it..not for you but for the peoples who loves you a lot esp your parents...

I think this *married* thing is getting way to overrated in our time. There aren't that much people out there who really care if they are married or not before they get children. Many people think that you don't have to be married to know that you love your partner.... Yeah I know, that`s not the only reason why you get married but... well...

It's something I personally HOPE I never face however I doubt it will ever happen now, as the thought of people killing a baby very saddening. (not counting those who can't become parents) I think it's okay. Although it's one of those things which should be given a try and killing a life form not matter what the situation is very hard and quite depressing. Kate's family tried to get her two (the first time) they even tried to book it without letting me know. So this is something I feel strongly about and It's not always about the female although hardly any think of the side effects for the father. (no offence) if your with a good partner it should be a joint discussion and not forced or rushed. Kudos, ~Joey

i agree where your coming from here. again similar opinions to myself. i know alot of people dont like that i have a strong opinion as your own. i dont think that families should force their children to have them, regardless of their opinions it has nothing to do with the family, it is all about baby, mum and dad.

I agree that if you're sexually active that you should be able to take responsibility for any consequences. I'm against abortion all the way but in some circumstances it can be acceptable. Like if you know that you or the baby will not make it through birth then maybe an abortion is best. You'll at least be able to save the baby from either growing up with no mom or from being in severe pain at birth. As for others that do it just because they screwed up and got pregnant that is completely wrong. Taking away someone's life just because you made a mistake is very very wrong.

I agree with you.Abortion is murder. Why kill an innocent human being when he did not ask for his existence? If you do something, learn to be responsible for your actions.Abortion is not tolerated in our country and I'm glad it's not.:)

I am against abortion. Alot of people dont thinkits a human life till your sofar along I feel different about that..Its a person as soon as the sperm hits the egg to me. I know everyone feels different about this.I would never forgive myself, I have also had friends that have had a few and they hurt for years after if they ever get over it. On wondering what the baby would have looked like and how would they have grown up, who would the baby have looked like and so on... I couldnt even do it if i was raped. it is still apart of you!!!! There are so many people put there that wants to be able to have thier baby and cant.. so if you dont want to keep the baby PLease give the ones that cant have them to have a child....

This is always a tough topic. I consider myself prochoice - but I believe that choice comes in before getting pregnant, not afterwards. Too many people I know consider abortion an acceptable form of birth control. It is not the baby's fault it was conceived. I have a friend who had four abortions before she was eighteen years old. Each time the doctor told her it was "just a mass of cells" and nothing else. When she married and became pregnant with a baby she planned to keep and started learning about the development of the unborn child she went through massive depression. I think that a woman should be given complete information about all options, and then she can make her decision. Too often they gloss over the truth of the unborn child and that does a great harm to the woman in the long run from my experience. In cases of rape... well, there is the morning after pill that can be used. I would never abort, no matter what. I firmly believe it is not the baby's fault no matter what. We also have mixed messages in our society. It is okay to abort a baby - but if a pregnant woman is injured in a car wreck the other person gets charged for both the woman AND the baby. We can't have it both ways. Just my two cents.

For me abortion is not the solution for the couples that are not ready yet to have a baby. Because before they done it they must think first the reality that thing will happen. And they should be ready in any decision they make. Abortion is a biggest sin, you must think of it.

I don't believe in abortion either, Vicky_lane, because number one it's murder. And the Bible says we shall not kill. Many women use abortion as a form of birth control and it's actually murder. Like you said it's not being responsible for your actions. There's no commitment. This baby is not wanted and would be too much trouble to take care of and I can't afford a child now. That's what is said for some of the reasons for abortion.

I also am against abortion and agree with what you said about accepting the responsibility of being sexually active. However, there are just two situations that I think are an exception to my beliefs and they are the following: if a woman is raped (I believe it could be very traumatic to carry a product of your rape) and then if the baby has very serious medical problems that are goign to make it's quality of life horrible)

I think people have to do what they feel.. Everyone have to be free to choose the best thing in his life..if you think the abort is right, you've to be free to do it
