Does microdermabrasion work?

So in the past year I recently got that annoying 'adult acne' on my face. I've taken steps to care for my face (washing with face wash, using Proactiv, using face cream, etc) but it only seems to get worse. A trusted person at the skin care clinic suggested microdermabrasion. I'm considering it, but I wanted further opinons, so. Yes? No? Good or bad? Is it something that'll help the acne, or just make me become dependant on my monthly dose of abrasion?
