I had my first anxiety/panic attack on March 4th this year (also happenes to be my 21st birthday)..Ever since then I have been having what I call mini panic attacks everyday just about all day...It has affected my work habbits (i've only been at work once this week, everytime I get in the car even if it's just to go down the street I freak out really bad, I'm scared to eat because there are times when my throat feels like its going to close up and I'm going to choke..The hospital I went to prescribed Xanax .25mg, which does nothing but put me to sleep, and I'm going to the doctor tomorrow to see if he can prescribe anything...So does anyone have any advice on what I can do to stop these attacks. Is there a book to read or a website that has more info on anxiety?

I have had problems with anxiety too. The Xanax the doctor gave you is a pretty small dose, but since you haven't taken it before. Try to only take half of it, maybe it won't make you so tired. Another thing you can ask your doctor about is Prozac or Paxil both of these can help with anxiety. They will not help right away though, you will have to take them everyday for at least a month to see if they help. I currently take only Prozac for my depression and anxiety. I used to take Xanax but it is very habit forming so I quit taking it. I hope you find something that helps you.
