Poetry, Song writing or Story writing, which do you prefer?
For me it's poetry.
I love song writing, I flow easier inside my poetry as I put detail into the simple style. It shines when I do it right and There's nothing more enjoy when it comes to writing.
Lyrics are harder, as it involves more work. as you need to keep a melody in mind and of course the progression.
What about you?

well, i never really write that much... but umm, when i feel like writing i end up writing poems... because it limits you to nothing, you just express the feelings you have... with simplicity you can portray an inner emotion or affection... but with songs you're right, you consider a lot of things... that's why i prefer poetry, because it's very easy to do rather than song writing...(",) but im looking forward to somehow be able to write a song...

I'm more into song writing. It may seem like quite difficult than writing because you have to make a tune out of it. But for me, it's a lot easier than poetry. In poetry, mostly, you have to have rhyming words but when you write music, it doesn't have too. In my own style, first, I write down everything that's on my mind. Once it is done, here goes the making of the tune. Then that's the time when I adjust the lyrics to fit to the tune that I like.
But there were also instances that I can also make a tune first without lyrics yet especially if I'm playing my guitar. Then, I put lyrics into the song afterwards.

I'll say poetry and song writing. The reason for that is I always have my guitar or piano in hand. So, I always tend to play a melody then think of random thoughts, then sing it. Its more fun. And sometimes, I kinda link my poems to it -make it lyrics.

I love writing poetry. It brings out the best in the me, and it also helps me vent. I've been writing poems since my early teens and very recently published my first poetry book. It was an immense feeling of happiness since it was nothing but a dream come true to actually publish a book. You can see it here. www.lulu.com/content/679023

I dabble in poetry, but really prefer story writing.
I really admire those that can put music & words together - that's a special skill.
Writing of any kind is a true craft, and I can appreciate
all the hard work and effort it takes to create something
for others to relate to and enjoy.

I think I prefer story writing out of those three..because it's what I'm best at, and because I have a passion for the entire writing process when it comes to stories. I don't know if I'm half bad at lyrics either..but you are right, they ARE harder since you have to have this mental melody in your head without any music to give you an idea for the words most of the time.

I know that..I just don't know if I'm THAT good at it. I like writing lyrics..but stories just come more naturally for me. It takes me forever to work out a single song. Whereas I can work out the story in nice chunks as I please. It doesn't mean I stop writing lyrics, it just means I write stories alot is all.

I love writing...I am used to saying that I was born with a pen in my hand, ready to jot down something...I am used to writing when I am sad or when I am happy, when I want to celebrate something or when I grieve and I have to recover from something..I keep a personal diary and when emotions come I write poems that express what I am feeling at the moment..I jot down my thoughts too and I keep special notes books with me, that have a special worth for me..sometimes i write little stories too and now I have recently started an ambitious project..I am writing a sort of book...it is still at the beginning but I love the idea of giving a sense to the emotions and thoughts that are in my mind

I just like writing. I have always wanted to write a book and finally did.
I published it about 2 months ago and it was a few years in the making.
Having someone read what you have written and gaining from it, is very satisfying. They say everyone has a story in them. I think there are probably plenty of myloters who are very capable of writing a book.

I like story writer, or rather writing novels because I tend to go on and on and on. I can write a poem or a song, but I feel those are for feelings such as being in love, praising God, etc. while when you write a novel you can telling an adventure or doing "what would happen if '" or :"how did the body get there and who done it?" I know what you feel about lyrics, because you have to keep the melody in mind and get the words and notes to unite with each other. It isn't easy, but in novel writing, you have to use the correct word for the correct meaning, make the story interesting, easy enough to read and yet not insulting a person's intelligence. As for poetry, I can write off a limerick once in a while.

It depends on the mood you are in. At times, it is easier to write the lyrics, and sometimes a poem. Story writing is more of a talent and is not easy to find. I can write poems more easily than songs. But, at times, can do that also.
