Ok so here is the thing. I get letters from people I don't know like from ebay and stuff. They sign their letters thank you and god bless. Would it be Ok if I sent a letter back saying thank you and there is no god, or thank you and satan bless? What do you think? Lets heres ome opinions.

I dont think you would like it either if someone will close his letter saying satan bless. If you are of different reigion, you may just skip the God bless part. The person sending it to you may be serving that God.

Hm, first of all I think it is a phrase that so many people use. I have a student I tutor in English. I have her practice writing letters and she even ends it with "god bless" (without me saying anything about it) and she believes in Buddhism. Therefore, I think many people are so used to the closing statement that it is like: Yours, yours truly, sincerely, XOXO, etc. Now, I think you shouldn't be offended about it. The person is trying to be nice, just like saying "have a nice day". Lighten up, okay? You don't have to get angry at someone just for writing because you personally don't know him/her. Have a nice day. ablo

If it were like Yours, yours truly, sincerely, XOXO, etc then why don't they just say that then? If I should get offended by it then they should be offended if I signed it thank you and there is no god. It's just an ending to a letter like yours truely. Thanks for your input and god doesn't bless. Mike

Until I joined Mylot I've never had anyone sign off with God Bless. I haven't got a religious bone in my body, so it goes over my head. I don't take umbrage to it, because it's not worth getting annoyed about it, as long as they are not ramming it down my throat. I don't ram atheism down people's throats and I don't expect them too either. Just a simple thank you would be suffice!

I guess if you were to say Thanks and Satan bless me I would respect your right to say it. it would not make me mad. I know people believe differently so I would accept you for who you are. And if its part of who you are to say "Satan bless or there is not God as a signature. Then so be it. I do believe in God but i do not say God bless. Well if someone sneezes I say bless you. But that was drilled into me as a child. lol.

I feel that it would be best to just ignore the god bless part and just reply thank you to them. It wouldn't be necessary to state your religious beliefs at all in your reply.
