The locals are not getting pushed out really by these prices/ Its just that so many people have lived there for so many years/ they are finally thinking about relocating/ And also there are too many vacationers sometimes/ but it is true that Tahoe is more fun when there are people from all over/ I lived in Tahoe for about 17 years always traveling the world tho/ and i moved to San Diego/ there is more tings to do for young people and there is more jobs, money, and cool people/

I never though of it that way. I know for sure how hard the job market is though. This is the first place I have ever had to fight for a low paying job. This is why I prefer to work on my own. The housing is ridiculous. It's just been in the past 6 years too.If you want a 1-bedroom cabin, no utilities included, in a bad area, expect to pay at the very least $800.00 a month. I love Tahoe, do not get me wrong, however to live an average life here you must make at least $50,000.00 for a family of four. By average, I mean paying bills, insurance, vehicle, clothes, utilities, food and some luxuries too. I do not see us moving anytime soon like so many of our friends have in the past few years. The worst part about all the tourist are that they completely CLEAN out the shelves at all the grocery stores, no sour cream, no international delight french vanilla, stuff like that. The traffic is a pain too when a holiday is amongst us.

Lake Tahoe - This is me and a friend and me and was taken at South Lake Tahoe a few years ago at a women's retreat. It was relaxing and beautiful. The lake is so peaceful.
I'm not a local, but I love Lake Tahoe. I live outside of Sacramento. I have been up their camping, boating, gambling, bicycling, etc... It truly is beautiful. I love when I can come up and spend 4 days at a time.:) I'm sorry that things are going up and the job market is going down, it seems to be the same here. Although I don't feel like I'm getting pushed out by tourists, probably because I live in such a large City. I'm sorry that you feel that way. I stayed on the lake for a few days on a women's retreat and include a picture, it was one of the most relaxing getaways that I have ever had.:)
