What is the status given to a girl child in an Indian soceity? Are all of us are really aware of what is happening around us? Recently I came across an incident where I saw an educated lady who gave birth to her third girl child and she was hesitating to feed her one day old baby just for the reason that its a female child and not only that she was screaming and shouting at her family members to take away the child and give it or to sold it to someone. Please send your responses. Why is this happening in our country. This incident has happened in a wealthy family

You are right. Although there are several organizations, both government and non-government, who are working hard for the empowerment woman, things like the one you said are still happening. You realize that the girl child in the above story is ill-treated or discriminated by her mother, who is also a woman.
But, Indian society is developing gradually and I firmly believe that nuisance of the society will be eradicated one day...
