For those who wish to avoid "frankenstein foods", the genetically modified, the full of hormones and preservatives, you just need to cook your own from good basic fresh ingredients, right? Coming to a store near you soon. The Rice With Human Genes: http://www.commondreams.org/headlines07/0306-10.htm It's madness!!!

NO. Are you telling me that I have to plant my own rice paddy now! The whole world is going crazy. If I eat rice with human genes in it does that make me a cannibal?

Deary me... I wish I hadn't started lookinmg at this stuff. There's lots going on that's not being talked about. Bees are dying by the billion all across USA and Europe. GM crops are creating new proteins which are suspected of causing a big rise in allergies. These proteins are creating new bacteria which reside in the stomach. GM cross-contamination is globally out of control. The genie won't go back in the bottle. I would ban Monsanto and its subsidiaries from trading. Close 'em down!!

They'll sell you the stuff, but they are afraid to grow it! "US Rice Industry Opposes Plan to Grow Genetically Modified Rice in US" http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/03/31/230/

The human species has gone completely mad - you're right. Science will ALWAYS push the boundaries as far as it can, as it's only interested in the science of life, not in the ethics. And the Industry which funds the science, will use that science, as being "cutting edge" and "new" is all that bothers them. Consumers need to start making a stand and complaining, as if the Industry sees that there is no market, and that public opinion is turning against them, this is the only thing which will curb their monkeying with nature. I try to buy organic as much as possible, and am glad to see the prices gradually lowering, and the ranges available increasing in my local supermarket. This is a sign that consumer power is rewarding organic farmers, and that there will therefore be more and more of them in the future. Here's to consumer power in a world of madness!
