It depends on what you need, if you like Vista you should make sure that your HW are all Vista ready, then request for a demo OS for yaou to try this. I'm not sure if Mac offers demo MacOS. You should also consider what applications you are going to run, graphics wise, Mac has the edge (on a MAC HW, not sure on Intel) and also remember that not all Windows apps work on Mac and vice versa.

I don't think MacOS can be installed in normal PC. Eventhough new Apple computers is using intel Core Duo but the motherboard architecture is way different.
Your choice is only Windows or Linux. If you still wan to go with Microsoft, I suggest you installed Windows XP, it's more stable and the bugs is less than new Vista.

Though vista has released to market,it is still developing
in functionality and features. Is newer so you are much familiar with rather than mac os x.So to be of better use
i recommend to use the later one.

Woow WIndows Vista.. what a hot subject i can say. I have talked a lot in my area with many of my friends and all of them had only positive thoughts about it. I can say that i was blow off by this new windows system. Some things certainly lack to it but this new look which Microsoft has incorporated in it certainly do the money you would give for it. I have waited this new system for 2 weeks and here i am using it. It was pretty hard for me to buy it because in my area it can't be found. So i had to ask a friend from another part of my country to order me. I am so happy using it and all i have are only words of gratitdue. I post here a short description about VISTA.
Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface (GUI) and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista includes version 3.0 of the .NET Framework out of the box. The .Net Framework makes it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API.

i don't know if you can just install mac os x on any computer, but if you can do that then go for mac os x, with that configuration you got in there, mac os x will run just absolutely great, but windows vista will have some trouble running up, also you should know that vista its not totally developed, they're already working in a service pack that will be available on a few months, also you got a lot of drivers problems, compatibility issues and more trouble with it, you should choose with wisdom

With the hardware you have, Windows Vista would be the best option. The home version would be just fine for you.
