How do you react when you are left with no money in a new city?

I was in a new city. There I happen to realise that I had no money for food and travelling.I had miscalculated my money in the purse. I was in a fix to manage the things. Then I gathered my courage and sought help from a new person. He willingly helped me. I could just convey my thanks since he did not give any address for the return of the amount.
