I see their very popular and I need insight as to what exactly they do. I know they store info from your computer and you can transfer data from one computer to another but here's my question. I have a camcorder and we want to upload videos from the camcorder to the computer. My computer doesn't have a firewire port to upload the videos so here's my question, can you use a flash drive to upload videos from a camcorder? I do have a usb port on my computer and on the camcorder so would that be possible. We just got the camcorder for christmas and thought it would be great to upload videos on to the computer and we can't. Would the flash drive be an option and could it be possible? I don't know too much about the flash drives. I see them everywhere but haven't purchased one as of yet. Thanks for all your help!1

Do the have a wizard to help me learn? I know I can put files on them but what kind? music? photos? Will they hold anything the computer will

They are very useful. You can think of them as a mini hard drive :) You can put anything you want on them provided you have enough space.
As of how you use it, when you plug it in the computer the computer will see it as an extra drive and all you have to do is to use your program of choice to copy files there (drag and drop in windows explorer works perfectly fine)

I'm sorry but you cannot do that. Once because you can't actually plug your flash drive to the camcorder (there is no socket for that in the camcorder) and second because you have no interface on the camcorder to communicate with the flash drive. The flash drive is sort of like a DVD, it holds files but you have to access it somehow to read it or to write on it. The camcorders don't have that type of interface.

does your camera use a flash memory device? like MMC, SD card, memory sti ck? because if it does then i believe you should be able to take that memory chip out the insert it on a card reader and you should be able to view/copy/upload your photos. message me for more help
