How Much Does Temperature Affect Your Fun?

How Much Does Temperature Affect Your Fun? - We love to go out and have fun, but we don't like to freeze.

Every week my friends and I meet at to sing karaoke. Lately though it has been so cold in the bar where we sing that many of us can't even take off our coats. I don't get cold easy, but even I have resorted to bringing along a sweatshirt to wear. The owner has been told many times about this, but refuses to raise the temperature. I would love to boycott his bar and go somewhere else since we are all freezing, but this is the only karaoke place we can all get together in the area. Although most of us still enjoy ourselves, many have decided not to go out anymore because of this. Since it is one of my few outside activities, I don't want to give it up and just stay homebound for the rest of the winter. We have so much more fun when the temperature is comfortable than we do when it is either extremely hot or cold. I was wondering how much the temperature affects your fun.

Great topic because I seriously was thinking this same thing today! Tempature definitely affects my fun as well as productivity. My workplace is often freeeeeezing and it means that I am so busy complaining about being cold, trying to stay warm, and getting sleepy b/c of the cold, that I don't feel I can be as productive as I'd like to be. As for fun, I am surprised you still go to the bar b/c I would not be able to stand wearing a coat inside. My "fun" is affected a lot in the winter because I don't even want to leave the house! There were a few really cold days this winter where my friends called to hang out and it was just too cold for me to consider going out. It seems like it takes extra long to get ready in the winter, so it definitely makes it hard to get out. I'm not going to want to go out for 2 hours if I have to put on my hat, coat, scarf, gloves, boots... then clean snow of my car and defrost it.... than drive slow b/c it's slick. Anyway, here's hoping it warms up around here soon! Today in MI it is around 14 degrees! Ahh!!!!

Alternatively, when it is TOO HOT, it doesn't affect me as much as when it is TOO COLD. I can deal with heat better than cold, but like you said I'd rather be comfortable than too hot or too cold.

I agree, hot or cold can make you miserable. I can also deal with the heat better than the cold. I usually send my boys out to get my car cleaned off and warmed up for me. They are really good about that, so I have a nice warm car to gt into when I leave. It is bad when I have to get in the cold car to go home though. I probably wouldn't go out if it was very far, but since it is only a few miles from home I don't mind. I still keep trying to talk my older son into driving me. That way I would have a warm ride home too. lol

Unfortunately I'm one of those people who gets feeling really depressed during the winter months, which here in Canada are exremely cold!! I'm not really into any winter sports and hate feeling cold, I'd much rather step outside on a beautiful day and take a nice walk without worrying about slipping on the ice and save the cold for cuddling up on the couch with a warm blanket! I would rather feel a little chilly than to be boiling hot though, we get really humid conditions here during July and August.

A little chilly isn't so bad, especially when you are outside. I don't mind it when I'm outside, but would expect a business to keep the customers at a reasonable temperature. Today was a beautiful day and I was happy to be able to step outside and take that walk around my yard today, and hope that you got some of the warm sunshine that we got here. I don't like the extreme conditions either, no matter which extreme. I don't think anyone does. I guess the cold just bothers me more now than it used to.

The temperture effects me considerably. I have far more tolerance for colder weather than hot. However either extreme bothers me. I think heat is the worst though. When it is cold you can cover up and layer on the clothing to alleviate the feeling. When it is hot there is nothing you can do when you are out to alleviate it. (Talking about, while still maintaining decency.) The heat is more likely to kill my fun then the cold.

I used to be able to tolerate the cold better. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but over the years the cold has been getting harder and harder on me. I have a very hard time with extreme cold now, and although the heat still bothers me, it isn't nearly as bad as it used to be.

April is National MS Mointh! - sign
I have MS (multiple sclerosis) and temperature changes cause me extreme pain! I cant go outide if the temps are below 23 degrees F or above 80 degrees F. The humidity is another killer, too high and I am weak and in agony, too low and I'm in bed for the day. I'm like a walking barometer! http://www.NMSS.org

I'm really sorry to hear that, but I understand what you are saying. A friend of mine also has MS and has a terrible time with the weather too.

The temperature has a huge effect on how much fun I have. I hate winter and I hate the cold so I spend most of the cold days wrapped up in a blanket and don't do anything. I love summer days when I can go swim in the river. Summer time is the only time I even leave my house.

I know what you mean. I spend much of the winter huddled under a blanket. If it weren't for my weekly outing for karaoke I probably wouldn't leave my house all winter either. That's why I really hate so much that the cold temperatures in the bar are ruining the one thing that I do all winter that gets me out of the house to have some fun.

Temperature affects me too badly. But my condition is a bit different from yours. I am affected by hot weather whereas in your case, its the cold weather. Hot weather makes me sweat a lot! Due to excessive sweating, I at times am not able to enjoy the fun. I have to take care of my sweat wet cloths and prevent foul odour by applying too much deo sprays.

Hot weather bothers me too, but not nearly as badly as the cold weather does. The heat used to bother me much worse than it does now, but now it is mostly the cold that affects me.

well temperature very much affects my fun. My poor kids get somewhat deprived as well just because of how much i absolutly hate being cold. I can take extreme heat but not extreme cold and i tend to just hole up in my house and not go out when its really cold (which in northern ontario it definetly is for much of the winter). I do try to get the kids out to play outside but it takes so long to get them properly dressed for the cold that it takes away a lot of the enjoyment of going out to play and then they dont last very long anyways and most of the time it just seems pretty pointless to go through all that just for fifteen minutes outside. Its so much nicer when its warm and all we have to do to get ready is sunscreen and hats

I can't get my kids to go outside during the winter either, and they are in their teens. I would think they would want to get out and get some fresh air, but even they don't like the bitter cold.

I'm sorry to hear that. I end up getting sick a lot more with the temperature changes, and having to go in and out of the cold.

Temperature definitely affects fun. Its too hot & humid in my country and its absolutely terrible trying to do something outside the house during the day. The minute I step out of the house, i am doused with perspiration and it just gets uncomfortable. I wish the temp would be a cool uniform so I could enjoy my outdoor fun.

During the summer it gets hot and humid here too. We spend a lot of the summer at the lake or the river swiming, tubing or canoeing. It's a great way to cool off.

Your situating is very different. But frankly speaking temperature affects your fun indirectly. You should try some alternatives to get over it.If I were you I would definately done something but not gone homebound.

I live in a very small town. There really aren't many alternatives. I wish there were. Thankfully, spring is coming along with warmer weather.

Hi, yes the weather can affect my fun I have here but when I was younger I used to enjoy it a lot more, so now in the summer it is still not too bad apart from when it gets humid that is when you really feel the heat and it makes you feel uncomfortable and sweaty, which is not much fun. But I like to go to the beach, canoeing, and go and see my friends as in the winter time I mainly just stay home due to the cold and dreary weather so it does affect my fun.

Even with the heat and humidity, I enjoy the summer so much more. Like you I enjoy canoeing and spending time at the beach. We have a great time durring the summer at the lake or on the river. During the winter, we spend much of the time inside, but when even the inside is so cold it is terrible.

I find it hard to have fun if it's extremely cold unless it's outdoor winter fun such as tubing or sledding. I prefer the summer months though because I like to go hiking in the sun, up the mountain trails near to where we live. This year we hope to tackle some of the more challenging ones. The temperature DEFINITELY affects my ability to do these trails, if it's cold, it's nowhere near as much fun.

extreme cold isn't fun for me whether it's inside or out, but I expect it when I'm outside. While inside I expect at least somewhat tolerable temperatures.

I have to be warm to be comfortable. My feet stay cold in the winter so it's socks for me.

I hate being cold, so naturally my mood is not the best when I'm freezing, so yes I agree with you my mood is better when I'm comfortable, but that really goes without saying dosen't it!? :-)

The temperature really does spoil a lot of fun whether it's too cold or too hot. I prefer the heat to the cold any day and coming from the north of England originally I know how the cold can affect people. If I am outside yeh! you can expect to be cold in a cold climate, but I hate being cold inside. The cold does stop me from doing many things, I can become a hermit in winter, not so much here in Aussie but definately in the UK.

I don't like to do a lot of things outside during the winter because of the cold, but it would be nice to at least be warm inside.

Air conditioning can be very helpful when it is hot. If we don't get heat this winter, I don't expect any air conditioning this summer.

When it's colder out there are less things to do in this area; it's more for summer fun. Most of the time we hit the mall or go to see a movie but the last time we went to our local theater it was so cold inside that we didn't take our jackets off. There's no reason why the owner of that bar couldn't jack up the heat a little ... unless he is trying to save money but that sounds like it is going to backfire on him and he's going to end up losing business.

It's been a nice day today, but some days it's better to just curl up under the blankets and stay there for the day!
