I would like to know the difference between pain and ache, why we say head ache, but not head pain, and stomach ache, not stomach pain,please let me know the difference.

It is the degree of severity of the pain. Most pains in the head do fall into the "ache" category when they get worse we call them migraines instead of headaches. Stomach aches are the same when they get too bad they are no longer a stomach ache - they become cramps, etc.

My only guess is that a pain is more fierce and sudden while an ache is gradual and isn't as bad.

thats like hurt and injured.. one means you have pain but can move on .. and the other means you cant go on you must stop... but i never remember which is which!

The two are medical terminology used at diffenent time for different purposes. Ache may refer to abnormal feeling that makes one not confortable. It has not physical injury. Paint on the other hand, is as a result of physical injury to any part of the body.

pain is occured by injury but the ache is occured by internally.
