gone are the days when we used to write letters, today its really easy, with the click of a mouse you can send e-mails to your friends and relative, no matter in which part they are living, do you remember when was the last time you had hand written a letter to your friend or relative

I write letters to my family once, sometimes twice a week.
It's hard being away from them,I miss them every moment.Since I've moved so far from them I realised (more than I already knew) how much all of them mean to me.
I still write letters in the old fashion style although my sisters have email accounts.
An email is nothing compared to the anguish to receive true letters and the joy when you actually receive them can not be compared with checking your inbox for new emails.
The style of writing, the writing is part of them.Every time I receive a letter from my family it's like they'd send me little parts of their soul...I can't reach that through emails.A letter from them it's like sending lots and lots of love and hugs in a little box. :) And that goes vise-versa too. When I write them,I put my soul on a black page.
Emails are for urgent news or funny stuff, they are not invented to express yourself through them.

Just yesterday, when i wrote a birthday letter to my nephew who turns 12 on 11th of March. It has been my habit to write in my own handwriting and sharing some words of wisdom with youngsters and request for advice from elders. This makes me very happy and them delighted

Yeah I do...I have written it to my younger brother.
He use to write me letter, once in a week...those always make me cry...(once I've received a full page letter from him, I miss u so much, n he mentioned the number how many times a day he miss me...1000000...000...0 till last line).
I've not written a letter from last two years (u can say after marriage), before that, I use to right letters to my friends of school, graduate college, nephew, aunts...!
Thanks for the topic, I remembered I've to write a letter to my one nephew (he was complaining that nobody write a letter for him...)

I have friends that I regularly email with. I also keep in touch with my brothers by email and phone. My dad doesn't have internet and doesn't use email - never has! I just wrote him a letter and sent him a Christmas card back in December. We keep in touch through letters and phone. Regular mail is not completely gone! I think because of email a hand written letter stands out as more special. It means you've taken the time to sit down and write it out. That takes much more time and thought than a quick email sent by computer?

I used to have a long list of people I wrote hand-written letters to. Most of my letters were 4-6 pages long and my friends often commented on how much they looked forward to hearing from me.
Since I started using e-mail, my letters are much shorter and only occasionally to I take the time to write a really newsy one. Also now that people change their e-mail addresses so often, I sometimes lose track of a friend and I think this is not a good thing. We have lost the personal touch by not taking time to actually write a letter any more, and it seems to be making it easier to lose friendships.

ok , i never thought this way that e-mails might be responsible for losing personal touch, since till today i am using the name e-mail, ok so thats the drawback of e-mails.

Yes I just wrote a short letter to a friend of my a couple weeks ago, but now I got their email, he he. I would rather send emails, cheaper and faster. Boy we do live in a microwave world lol. Their is times were a hand written letter is nessary - like private letters to your loved one. It is more romantic than sending an email.
