This cold weather gives me muscle spasms

It is so cold today here in the Adirondacks of NY.I went out to take the dog out and I was only out a couple of minutes but by the time I got inside I was having muscle spasms in both thighs and one calf.In case no one has them they are what is called a charley-horse by some people.Anyway I could barely get inside and when I did I had a hard time walking.I hate spasms. They are so bad.I finally went into the bed with my heating pad and it's better now but it leaves my legs feeling like I was punched.
The leg spasms are bad but not as bad as the ones in the shoulders on each side of my neck.Haven't had them in a few months now but when I do I almost pass out.
Does any other fibro folks have muscle spasms?

This past winter here in Florida has been very cold for us, not like what you have, but for us it's cold. On top of that we have the type of cold that seeps into you. It seems to get worse as you are out into it and goes all the way to the bones.
I get the spasms as well with the cold but I get them in my upper back and neck area. I end up in agony with them. When I go outside I have to make sure I'm really bundled especially in that area and even then with how this cold seeps through the layers I still end up with them. Until I get warm again they don't stop but even once they stop that agony is still there. It takes hours for it to go down sometimes. It never fully goes away but it does go down to a more bearable level. You'd think living in Florida I wouldn't have to worry but I do :(

I don't get muscle spasms, I get severe joint pain. I didn't even realize that I had fibro until I say the specialist report to my GP. I have sjogrens which is like lupus which causes pain too. The cold also affects my fingers and toes. I have rynolds syndrome which causes your fingers to turn white in the cold. It hurts so bad when you go inside and the circulation comes back.

Raydene honey, maybe it's time you thought about moving to a warmer place.
For healths sake. Your body would sure appreciate a warmer climate.
I don't have fibro but I do suffer from Arthritis and Diabetes. There is no way I could live in a place where it is so cold. My arthritis would get so bad I couldn't walk. I sympathize with you and hope you are feeling a lot better.
Wishing you health,wealth and happiness.

oh yeah we went to ny a few weeks ago and they had 6ft of snow and had to help shovel and I had a really hard time extreme weather will cause a flare up so fast it'snot even funny. I have restless legs syndrome with my fibr. not so bad now but I do have a cane I've had to use before. I went thru a really bad time about a year ago was falling all the time literally had to crawl to the bathroom wasn't fun for sure.
a good web site for info on fibro is fibrohugs.com
