Do You Compile Crosswords or Puzzles

In my spare time I love compiling crossword puzzles, word puzzles and jigwords, it keeps my mind active and I love words, and creating puzzles for other people to enjoy, it gives me a lot of satisfaction. I have been fairly successful in that I've had quite a few published. I get £8 for every puzzle I get printed!
I would love a full time job just compiling puzzles all day, but realize most jobs are freelance, if I send enough in, who knows!
Do you compile puzzles of any sort, and do you get them published? Would you love to sit down and get paid for creating puzzles all day?

That is wonderful that you actually got some of your
puzzles PUBLISHED. I never knew anyone famous to have
something published. I am honored that you reply to some
of my discussions and make comments to the discussions I
respond to. I love crossword puzzles and word puzzles.
I am not that talented to compose these puzzles just work
them. If I lived closer to you I would pay you a lot
more then you are getting now. I think that would be a
wonderful thing if you could get all of these puzzles published and you could make a miilion dollars doing
something that you enjoy.

Sure! If I were to be paid for creating puzzles...I would love to do it!
My grandmother used to do crosswords all the time because she said it kept her mind active...If you don't use it, you loose it.
But my grandpa did not have that type of vocabulary...so he always did the word search...with a ruler! He couldn't stand the circles being messy. ha ha

would u please tell me what magazine you write for? i've been searching so long for mags/ newspapers of the sort. I love creating and playing word search puzzles. I'd like to get paid for them...there's nothing else i am so good at as far as paid JOBS are concerned. I'm not that working age. Please suggest me names of such magazines - esp. NOT CROSSWORDS, 4 word searches. Thnx

That's a very unique hobby!
I've heard of people enjoying puzzles before (I'm a fan of logic puzzles and crosswords) but not actually creating them. Good for you!

I have never created my own crossword puzzle thats really cool that you enjoy doing that. I think that would be really hard. Way to hard for me! I have made word searches though when I was young and in elementary school. Those are not hard to do at all. I love to do crossword puzzles. When my ex and I first got together I did them soooo much that he banned me from doing them so for years I stopped. Then when he and I split up 6 months ago I was bored and was like hey I used to love doing these I should go do a few and I am hooked again. As you can see from the photo I attached.. at least I hope you can see it well enough to notice this... I almost never can complete a crossword puzzle I get about 3/4 of the way done and cant figure out the rest :( When I do get one totally complete I get so excited.

That sounds like a fun hobby. I have made puzzles in the past for parties or classes I was teaching, but I have never made one and sold it. I much prefer solving puzzles. That's cool that you do though.
I like crosswords, crosstics, logic and sudoku... though Logic are my favorite.

that's a very unique thing you are up to wolfie, it's nice to know. I like doing crossword puzzles and have never thought about actually creating one. That of course more brains than I have I think..lol I think you should consider taking it up seriously and sit down to create more crosswords. You have been paid before so there is money in it. Give it a shot, and soon you will become famous and I can proudly say I know him, that is wolfie the wolf, from mylot and his name is Brian not Brain, lol ;o)

You can definitely earn more than that. :) I found a bunch of US crossword puzzle markets paying $80/puzzle on up: http://puzzles.about.com/library/markets/blssgame.htm. Looks very promising!
Do you use a puzzle generator, or do you create the puzzles by hand?
I've never designed a crossword puzzle, but I'm intrigued by the idea. I love to fill them in.

I like jig saw puzzles. This is something I mostly do in the winter although I missed this past one. I usually drag out a puzzle and start with the outside edges first. Before you know it I will see different family members go by and try to find a piece or two as long as its out. Sometimes we might spend an evening working on it. It is a lot of fun for the whole family and something to do together.
For about a year I tried really easy cross word puzzles, but word puzzles are a lot harder for me and I find myself looking in the back of the book for the answers a lot. My kids get onto me for it. I cross off the ones I get right and circle the ones I don't know. Puzzle help you keep your mind sharp I agree.

I enjoy solving puzzles but not creating them. Now, if I could find a way to get paid for playing Sudoku that'd be awesome! Lol, I've recently become addicted to it. I'll solve one or two before I turn out the light at night, and then in the morning if I have time, I'll solve another, and then usually one or two more during the day, just depends on if I have time.

Your discussion made me remember how long it's been since I last made a crossword puzzle! Almost 10 years! I did crossword puzzles for my family and friends before, as part of greeting cards I made for them. I thought it'd be fun for them to work out the message I had for them...hmmm, made me realize how I haven't time to make cards lately.
I also like to solve crosswords. I also try to make my own anagrams. I think it's great that you get yours published...really cool!

Oh I like doing crosswords or puzzles, only for fun. But not in winter. I making them in the spare time only in the summer.
I have not a computer in my sea's home. When I am on the beach I like compiling them, maybe with some friends near my big umbrella =). I make them only for fun...and I am not so good in compiling them...never won anything! :-P

I do crossword and word search puzzles in my spare time. My mom and grandma got me started because my grandma told me that if you keep your mind active you'll be in better mental health as you get older. I also do them because I think it is fun ;o)
