I have a step son who is mine now his mother died 2 years ago so i have took him in as mine i also have a 5 year old and a 2 year old boy, My step son is not doing good is school cant sit still cant take anything in and apply it. I have thought from the time he was 4 he had adha his father wouldnt hear of it but now i have showed him and he thinks so to. I just wanted to know how to deal with this where i could get him tested what were some signs of it. The boy can drive you crazy talking 90 words a min makes me nuts. I not think he has the maturety level of his age either i have to tell him all the time stop acting like you are 4. My middle son is very smart and very mature i just am not sure how to deal with this i will not baby him or let him think it is ok when he does something wrong either.I just want this stress to end and get him the heklp he needs so he is not struggling.

You can take him to the doctor and they will diagnose him for you or refer you to a person that will. You can also talk to the school they should be able to help you get him tested and set in the right direction. On the correct medication if he has adhd he will be fine but it might take awhile to get him on the right meds and dosage. You just have to remember some kids are just naturally hyper and don't have ADHD. Good luck

First off, Im a single mom of 2 boys. My oldest is 9 and was diagnosed with ADHD and Learning disabilities when he was 4. If you are in Missouri I can recommend an excellent doctor. She is fantastic with kids. Also for anyone reading this. There are a lot of resources on my website that would help you help your children with their schools. The site address is.. http://geocities.com/bloomoonjada If the addy doesnt work for some reason please let me know. I am also availible to answer any questions you may have or to talk to if you want. I have 3 different instant messenger programs at my fingertips. Just let me know. Good luck and I hope this helps

My 13 year old is ADHD. I took him to our family doctor who agreed with me. He helped me find all the right people to take my son too. My son was a Pre-K student at the time. I had the teachers and other staff to help us. Do you have that kind of help too? Just take it one step at a time. Good Luck!

My son is 16 he has adhd and he was diagnosed by a school psychologist and his dad would not let me put him on meds he is in 9th grade but has 5 years of high-school to go and he is also a slow learner some things I excuse my son for other not but he is getting better I think you just have to let him know that you love him and sometimes tell him that it will be ok!!

I have a child who is adhd, bipolar nos, and emotionally unstable. I also have a child who is adhd. With them some signs where not focus; not sitting still; unable to stop talking; jumping off the walls. I took them to my family doctor and he referred me to a counciler who ran different test some of which like watching them play; seeing if they could complete simple tasks and some schoolwork; listen to them talk; also did a test to see if they could listen to follow directions. My children take meds but they actually help.
