I'm not sure how to categorize my books!

I've posted up my book reviews in my new blog but I have trouble putting them in the right categories? Are teens and young adults different categories? Or are they the same?

Now adays I find they categorize books by age group. A lot of books are rated on the back by reading level. For example I have a Judy Blume book in front of me right now - "Iggie's House". On the back it says RL: 4.3. I believe RL is like a grade in school. So that would be considered a grade 4 reader. I think teen and Young Adult are the same. In fact, I don't think there is an actual "teen" category. I think it is termed Young Adult. There are chapter books which are the first books young readers move to after picture books. Then there are Young Readers books which I believe is the Tween group. This would consist of the books I mentioned above that are rated by reading level. Once they are teens I believe they are Young Adult.

I also think that teen and young adult are the same. I checked on Wikipedia that young adult can be from ages 18 to 25. Anyway, thanks!

I asked my 14 year old daughter and she strongly disagreed with Wikipedia. She said it varies. Some books she reads are more to her age level, and some seem to be for older readers. She thought 25 was a little old for Young Adult.

Actually, I don't think the reading level matters anymore. And yeah, 25 is kind of old to be considered a young adult! I guess anyone regardless of age and gender can read absolutely anything!

oh wow.. I absolutely LOVE your site!! You've put alot of work into that and you should be so proud. What a great job!! I have a library type section at my site. www.imsilver.org I think the link to the library bit is under About Me. It's the next part of my site that I've planning on overhauling. Just fixing and reorganizing it before I upload to my server. Do you have a banner or something for your site?? I'd love to link to your site. Congrats!! and keep of the GREAT work!!

Teen and young adult are usually put together. A lot of it is just perception as to which one it goes to. I've seen some young adult books that are great no matter what age the person is where as others are really more geared for pre-teen then teenagers. It's what you want to place them at. Personally when I catergorize my books I just either put them by author, book title, or by genre. Which everyone works the best.

Yeah, I think categorizing them by genre would be much easier. =)

I would put teens and young adults in the same category, there is no need to break it down so thoroughly.

Okay, but they are quite different to me though.
