Hi simplycza.. At this point of time, I am using Avira Antivir personal classic edition. This can be downloaded at their own official website at www.free-av.com I have been using this software for almost two years. Since using it, I have never had problems at all with regards to the overall function and system performance of my machine. Otherwise, I am quite satisfied with its performance. It updates regularly and can be scheduled at your most convenient and spare time. It is very light on resources and does not use a lot of memory. Hence, does not slow down your computer. It detects and deletes rootkits, worms, viruses, etc. Overall, it does its jobs pretty well. Hope this would help to you in any way! Have a nice day and God speed!

In my opinion, the best virus protectors are Norton and MacAvee. A lot of the computeres come with them for a free year trial, if bought new.

umm. lets say to y experience for the past few months , i guess the best anti virus software available in the market today is the kaspersky internet security suite. it provides a real time protection to your PC. kaspersky internet security suite provides you with new updates every single day instead of weeks. kaspersky eliminates both virus and spy wares plus it has a advanced firewall with it . SO i suggest that the best way to keep your computer 100% virus free , is by using 'Kaspersky Internet Security Suite'. TC:)

McAfee is a pretty decent virus protection software, at least better than Norton Antivirus. But many antiviruse programs fail to do everythign you would want them to. My biggest problem with antivirus programs is that many times when they find an infected file, they will tell you but then they say that they can't do anything about it. Therefore I would also get one of my favorite programs out there: Spybot- Search & Destroy. This program generally targets spyware and adware but can also do many other things. It is competely free and can be downloaded in many places, just search for it. Then, about the virus protection, I would go to CNET.com where they do reviews of computer products and just type in "Virus protection" It will give you reviews and comparisons between many major ones and will also give you free demos of many of them. Good Luck!

I think avast it's the best free antivirus. It's free, light, simple and it auto-updates itself very quickly. Try it

I use AVG Free edition, it's simple to install and doesn't cost money - there's online updates that keep it current and it won't slow your computer down.

The school where I teach uses McAfee anti-virus software. It seems to be very effective in that we have not had any problems with viruses for a couple of years. My school does pay for automatic updates so the anti-virus protection is always up to date.

right now, i prefer AVG for it doesn't give a heavy load in the memory and i had this as an excellent replacement for my long time virus pal McAfee. i was quite disappointed with how McAfee was performing on my pc recently. i always have it updated but i was wondering why it cannot detect the 18 Trojan virus files i had in my pc that AVG had detected soon after. Norton is good too.

I'm using the McAfee and I like it. It always remind me when a program is virus infected or not. It can also regularly scanned your program for viruses. :)

well the best at moment is probably Kaspersky Anti virus. It's very light on your computer and yet very powerful detecting virus. The only problem is the price. If you are looking for a freeware alternative try avira antivir personal edition. It's the one I'm using right now. Or you can use AVG free. But any anti virus will do the job as long as it is updated.
