One of the most importnat things that we Indians have to understand and practice is road ettiquete abd road sense. We rush in and out, cut lanes, break red lights when there is no cop around, and even when there is one quite often.
Everyone wants to be first, even if it means breaking the regulations or risking our own and others safety.
I know that good and well planned roads are required, and many of the local authorities are inept, but we must improve ourselves too.

yeah sure this traffic is going to increase in coming years. Government normally in india tries to adjust to the current situation and had not oversee or insight for a longer term that is the problem. Fourwheelers has increased a lot. So I think the road tax can be increased and the govt. transportation vehicles should become very good in maintanence of vehicles and Good railways connecting all importatnt points. Govt. can bring Good MRT 's in our country maintained clean and neat. So that people utilise most of this govt. transports for their routines. More roadways are narrow is one of the biggest reason. So should widen it to maximum now itself even though there is no high trafiic in those places bcoz in future sure it will increase. Also broad bridges should come(2 way). These are some of my views.

thank u anithain the comment u posted u posted is very good definately i feel if railways improve we can have less traffic on road and i roads should be widened soon in a big way but above increasing road tax i totally dont agrree as our govt if they increase the money they make will just go into the politicians and the other higher ups and not to the roads for example a city like mangalore where everyday 50+ cars gets registered but c the roads are they up to the mark hope soon it improves

Indian drivers do not get any training beyond use of clutch and accelerator before getting a licence. To improve road safety and congestion, lessons in defensive driving are a must. Please visit http://driving-india.blogspot.com where you will find 17 driver education videos covering all aspects of defensive driving. Share this resource with all and help bring a cultural change on our roads.
