That is not exactly true! Excuse the spelling, but an animated movie was about Pocahontis, an Native American princess.

Mulan wasnt a princess actually. Its one of my sons fav movies
But you both are right, Jasmine and Pocahontas wernt white. I spaced them.
But having a princess of color is very uncommen. I think they should have more of them!

I don't mind a black princess at all. I wonder how they will do the story though. I hope they don't try to make it controversial by having the princess speak ebonics. I don't understand why people think certain groups of people talk a certain way. White people talk like they are speakin in ebonics, for goodness sake! I look forward to the movie and truly plan on seeing it.

I didn't know about this. Although, I do think that Jasmin from Aladdin was not necessarily white. I do think it is good for them to think about all races because those children might not relate as well to a white princess instead of a princess of their own race.

I just read that on yahoo new this morning. I think it will be a interesting story as all disney movies are.
I do think its about time. Kids now adays i dont think are raised the way their parents and grandparents were so they dont know there really is a difference. Kids now a days gets along with all kids. I hope this makes sense.

Regardless of Pocohontas and company, who weren't white but weren't black, I understood you to mean they are going to use a black princess, as in an African. I think that is very cool, and hopefully they get the culture of origin's details correct because they made a pig's ear of Pocohontas's story. Yes, beyond past time.

Actually she never married John Smith in the movie at all, She fell in love with him, In the second movie it has her with John Rolfe, They followed history quite well as she did love John Smith before she went to England.

that would be cute. i will definitely watch out for that. a frog princess soon to be born and hit our movie screens. that will be a hit like the other disney movies.
pocahontas is not really a black princess. Jasmine also is not.
