How much has your college degree benefited you?

Do you have a high-paying job/career because of it? Not making as much as you thought you would? Why not? What about having a career that has absolutely nothing to do with the field you earned your degree in? I hear about this happening all the time. Also, more and more people are getting great jobs without having a degree these days. Many even think college is overrated. Exactly how important is having a higher education to YOU? Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.

I personally don't have a degree. Although many of the people I work with have them. Have those degrees helped them? No. Pure and simple. Now this I am positive is not the case for everyone with a degree but your question brought one particular individual to mind. He works doing the samething I do(building cars) although he has a doctorate in history. He loves history. He had made up his mind to be a History teacher, got his Doctorate then discovered he has no patience for pupils. He now has a $40,000 piece of paper and a serious loan to pay off.
