i have notice all these big shots wanting people to donate money for their campaigns like giuliani he is out promoteing an wanting money for the presidentail bid."when i think they should all be out there an trying to get money for those who where destroyed by katrina an help new orleans an other states get their lives back together an other parts of the world.to have lunch with giuliani it cost $2,500 a plate..now that would buy alot of lumber for someone to rebuild.an giuliani an others already have enough money they dont know what to do with.i myself dont donate to any politians an never will.i would rather donate my money to someone who could really use it..everyone can still donate to help those in new orleans you can go to the any redcross an donate or go to their website www.redcross.com...sorry Ruby Giuliani..you dont get my Money. Katrina victims needs it more..so do anyone donate to the presidential campign?why not donate to Katrina Victim or others instead..

Politicians have been doing this for years and years and are not going to change any time soon. As for Katrina victims, a lot of money has already gone out to help them, and a lot of money was misused. You can drive through Slidell and New Orleans today.... and still get your heart broken by what you will see. This will not go away for years. The state is going to have to do more to help these people as well, in Mississippi the victims of this horrible storm have done for themselves so to speak. You hear stories all the time of brother helping brother, my husband goes through there everyday and sees lines of cars going through to get donated items, and not all that are receiving these need them. You don't pull up in a $40,000 vehicle and say you have no money and need help. This is why people have stopped giving. It helps when homes for humanity and hollywood bigshots go there and raise awareness. This does more good than a politician. Hope this helps to shed some light.

Also, you might want to look at it this way... if we elect into office the right person, more help from the gov't and politicians would get to the right people. Not be the big mess it was and is with the current FEMA staff.

I think that politicians get enough money donated from big businesses who hope to get favors from then once they are elected. They don't need my money. I wont even give "a dollar to the presidential fund" when asked.

Fund raising by presidential candidates is the truest test of thier ability to make a run at the Oval Office. Because of the Federal limits on donating by individuals and corporations an entire industry of Political Action Committees and Non-Profit lobbying groups has grown up around politics. Since you can not donate your estate to candidate A why not donate it to his favorit Non-Profit lobbying group?
This does several things. It funnels a great deal of money into the non-profits and provides a way for the candidates (even the unsuccessful ones) to collect and control small fortunes. Is it fair, honest and upfront? No but these are politicians.
