Who has ever taken a moment to think about the world around them ? I didn't until recently and noticed how much crime and violence there is and how much polution is in the air. I'm not an environmentalist but I think the world should be less ... well .... worldly. I only have a few simple questions that you can answer if you really want to but do not have to but I ask that you do.
Question 1 : What is your opinion on The World's Political affairs ?
Question 2 : Do you think the world is just fine the way it is or needs improvements ?
Question 3 : What is your opinion on Forest Fires and RainForest Destruction ?
Question 4 : Do you think Wars and Killing will ever be cut down or end ? If soo please explain why , if Not then please explain why also.
That is all the questions I have , thank you for your time and for answering these few questions.
With all do respect ,
Jon & Friends

Well tollbooth that's a heavy first discussion, usually people just want to say 'hi I'm new' so you are really jumping in at the deep end. Well I guess I'd better try and answer your questions as best I can!
1. Political affairs - very touchy subject and not something that us mere mortals can do much about. It seems there's only a few people that can tell the rest of us how we should live and what will happen in the world. We all hate wars but they continue mainly for the financial benefit of the few. People are still starving in the 21st century, many hate this but again it's the few that let it continue and again it will be for their benefit.
2. The world needs many improvements but again what can individuals really achieve, not a lot. Even organisations that are in favour of changes have difficulties in achieving anything let alone changing the world.
3. So how come when we all know that the rainforests should be left alone are they still be destroyed - because a few of those 'top' people are making money out of it. As for forest fires, this is down to the environment, arsonists or careless people and they destroy peoples lives and livelihoods.
4. Wars and killing will never stop, and we all know that's because of the few again making money out of the destruction of people. Be it for land, oil, etc, etc, people don't count, they are insignificant when weighed up against what money others can make.
So all in all it's a sad state of affairs. I imagine that every individual would like things to change but it doesn't happen, maybe we just sit back and think that others will do something but they don't or maybe we're just glad that the bad things aren't happening to us, or our families, or our countries.
Or maybe we are all waiting for a 16 year old from america to change the world, so is it down to you Jon and your friends?? Will you be changing the world? Someones got to do something and soon, so have you got any suggestions??
By the way, welcome to mylot and I hope you enjoy our community!!

In Reply to "that's a heavy first discussion" - I know it is a heavy first discussion but It was not meant to be a deep subject , it is not the question itself but the question within the question. The question reads "How often does anyone actually stop to look at the world around them" and if you answered the other questions then that was your option. But as I see from the posts no one ever answered my first question wich was How often do People stop to look at the worl around them ? I know a lot of people know about pollution , wars , politics , and other things but have you ever been sitting on a park bench in a big city and wonder to yourself "Why do the birds feed in this aweful place and not out in the country where there is clean air , larger areas of grass and trees , ect...?" Well , I noticed this not too long ago but everything , even the smallest of parasites , are here for a reason. My Theory is the birds choose to feed in the pulluted parks not because there is handed out food but because nature intended it to be that way. Without them there would be hardly anything beutiful in the park other than the flowers. It is not the question itself but the principal behind the question that is what needs to be pondered.

I'm sure that all of us do look at the world around us all the time and realise that life is full of mysteries and miracles. Do you ever take time to smell the roses?? I do. I also look at the world and wonder if things might ever change for the better but then realise that bad things have always been happening and it hasn't changed significantly. My comment about your age was because you are young and I was hopeful that the young people of today have seen the mistakes that have been made in the past and would change things for the better. Why can't that be you and your friends? You never know what will happen in the future, maybe now is the time to set your sites on making a difference in the world, what's wrong with that?

And in reply to "Maybe we are all waiting for a 16 year old from america to change the world , so is it down to you Jon and your friends ?? Will you be changing the world?" - First off I would have to say , even though I'm younger , that was a hyped response. Not once did I say I wanted to change the world , nor did I say I was going to change it. I'm just bringing some of the problems to light soo other people can question the questions. That is all a response I have to that statement and even though 16 year olds do not have the largest impact one or two at a time , in large groups they make a large impact on today's society. If one person stands in front of a building to stop it's destruction they will just be pushed aside , but if one thousand people stand in the way it is very likely the building will stand , the building I refer to is Today's world and the people I refer to are the People of the world who want better for their children's children.

You are absolutely right, the world today is going on its worst state and even worst for the years to come. We cannot do anything to stop it as an individual but if we will all work together we can do something about it. Forest fires are sometimes caused by illegal loggers, in our country that is the main cause of forest fires. Politics also plays a great role because they dictate the whole situation or stability of a certain nation.

In Reply to Ginagee 's last comment - In my community there is not many people other than myself and my few friends soo we do not have the largest impact , but other teens around the world who live in larger communities and/or cities can all make a large difference. 3-10 people can make local changes but not changes on a monumental scale , but 3-10 thousand people can change the world without even stopping to think about what they are changing for a second.

Crime, violence, greed, pollution, contamination and population are all entertwind. The higher the population, the more crime, the greater the violence, all the more there will be to cause pollution and contamination of the world, and the more the number of the greedy becomes. The more people there are, the more brushes with each other, the more wars will take place. Because, population has multiplied by leaps and bound, wars have also multiplied by leaps and bounds.
So, for everyone out there who wants to have a better life, cut down on population. Help to keep population at its lowest growth. If you feel the need to have some offsprings, be considerate and keep it to just one.
Looking it from your point of view, the world's political affairs shall become more intricate as the population rises.
The world is sending its distress signal. The populace has been too cruel to her. Pollution and contamination are too much to manage, causing the destruction of the ozone layer, this in effect, causes the inhabitants to suffer in many ways.
Rainforest destruction is caused by the rich and the influential. The poor and the needy have minimal use for them. Thus the needs of the ordinary man will not hurt the rainforests.
Forest fires happen because aside from man's activities which maight have caused it, there are some which were triggered by nature itself. Nowadays, when temperatures are much too high, forests are bound to catch fires during the very dry days.
Wars and killings will never be put a halt. It can be reduced if we reduce our world population. Lowering down the population, will lower down the number of people who will be colliding and attacking each other in the process of leading their lives.

Please remember that dry materials may reach their kindling point even if there is only the sun's excessive heat to cause it.

OK, here are my answers.
Answer 1: Political affairs are atrocious and corrupt and will NEVER lead to world peace.
Answer 2: The world and its inhabitants are in dire straits and need DRASTIC improvements soon or it will all selfdestruct.
Answer 3: People should learn to preserve the environment and not interfere.
Answer 4: The good news is, yes, wars will eventually come to an end and the world will be saved. However this change will not be brought about by man but by divine interference. It is only when Jesus Christ returns to the earth that we will receive appropriate guidance to improve our caracter (for those who choose this path) so we can allow ourselves to honour and enjoy eachother and celebrate the glory of the universe.
