My son is 9 months old and he went for his well baby check up yesterday (3-8-07). The doctor said he weighs about the same as he did last time we were there. She said he needs to eat more baby food and table food. He eats all the time though and everytime we are eating he wants some of our food. I don't know what else to do. I am a smaller build and my hubby was small when he was a child. My son was sick with a cold a few weeks ago and wouldn't eat much but he was still eating some and drinking all of his bottles. So I don't think that would have had an effect on his weight. She said he may just end up small like me and tall like his daddy. Is there anything else I can feed him or do you think he's just going to be a skinny child? Because he eats all the time and I don't really know what else I could feed him to make him gain weight. He's 9 months old and he weighs 16 pounds and is 28 inches long.

I have a granddaughter that was like that. She was the tinest thing for a long time. I don't think she got very big until she was 7 or 8 years old. She also ate very good and she was healthy. Her mon was a pretty tall woman but her dad was a little man. You can never tell how children will turn out. The genes can go back several generations.

I'm glad to know there are other children that are small like that. The doctor said for us to feed him more but he eats all the time and I can't feed him more if he doesn't want it.

You need to be careful not to force feed your son you are giving him his eating habits now and if you don't want a tubby on your hands stop pushing food at him. I have a causen and a grandson that their mothers kept pushing food at them and now they are having weight problems. Oh and thank you for the best response.

My daughter's case is somewhat similar. She's 8 months. A couple of weeks ago she got sick with a cold and went to the doctor. She weighed in at 15 pounds. Well, once she got better I noticed that she really started packing on the weight. Her daycare provider told me that they mixed cereal in her baby food to make it thicker. I am not sure how much she weighs now, but she's really chunky and fit a 6 to 9 month perfectly.

I'm hoping maybe he will hit another growth spurt and start eating more. Then maybe he'll gain some more weight.

my daughter is about the same age! she weights 16 pounds and three ounces!and is 68 cm .she didn't grow at the last checkup.
i think you shouldn't worry if your son eats and drinks well!
some kids don't grow for a couple of months! you see my oldest daughter is 2,5 years old and she weights 18 pounds and is 82 cm! so you see i have two totaly different daughters!
she wears size 74/80!
so don't worry and enjoy your son!
