Do you keep a 'book of shadows'?

If you do, did you create your own, buy one or did you inherit one from family? I myself created my own but I was also passed on several to me by a departed friend.

I'm creating my own. When I became interested in Pagan paths I didn't know anyone else who was so I had to teach myself. It would have been nice in the beginning to have a mentor or a friend with similar beliefs.

It has helped me a great deal on my journey with those passed down, however the creation on your own is an extension of your being, I believe.

Very true. However I found one of my main problems in the beginning was lacking confidence in my own work. It's only been through knowing other Pagans and seeing their trials and exchanging advice that I've grown stronger in my sense of personal power.

sort of, but it hasn't got a fancy name. it's just my book. the book itself is something rather special though. I got it from the museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle when they re-opened after the floods. it was made locally and is very beautiful and leather bound.

Sounds wonderful, I must admit I don't call mine anything really, its just the general term that others know.

I recently became enamored of the decoupage work people are doing in books- its such an expressive way to record something. I had started my BOS aabout a year and half ago. Before that I was using large index cards. anyway I knew I wanted my book to be exciting for me to go back and look at. So I bought some artistic papers to border some pages and be background on others. I paste in bits of the plants I select for spells, and odds and ends that fit with whatever I'm writing about. The decoupage really amped up my enjoyment of this process. For me, writing out all the data on a circle casting-dates, planetary positions, intent, all that =B-O-R-I-N-G. You wouldn't believe the fun ideas and inspirations I've had with this. Hope you are loving yours too. BB

Inspiration does come in many forms and it is all individual and what works for you, if you can find a way to provide even more enjoyment, then that is great.
