I like listening to music while I read but I think some people find it hard to concentrate on the book they are reading while music is playing. I find I can do both quite easily actually I can even read while the television is on though that sometimes distracts me a bit.

Its really amazing that you can concentrate on study even when watching TV!But I guess it would only be light reading not course related books.

It depends on person to person. if you are reading a text book and then listening music I assure you that nothing can enter your mind. Else if you are reading a story book or a novel then reading it with light and soft music can make your reading joyful. While doing assignment you can have a taste of Rock music. Well my cup of coffee is definitely rock. Music gives the soothing effect to your life. In my opinion music is a special ingredient for your dynamic miraclous life.

i also enjoy music while reading;listening 2 music is my all time favourite hobby. but i would advice you to avoid listening 2 music while reading subjects which are hard to understand; otherwise music is great; it can heal;it can understand;it can do wonders

I enjoy listening to music very much whenever I read light books,I mean books which don't need too much attention. Its rally very pleasant to listen your favourite song and you are reading. But sometime when reading needs concentration for example during examination I avoid any type of disturbance.

I find any music with lyrics or anything fast or loud distracting when I read. I enjoy listening to classical or jazz, though, sometimes.

One of my favourite ways to spend a quiet evening at home is to read a good book and listen to some quiet music in the background. It helps me to relax after a hard day at work and brings a sense of peace.

For some reason I can't give my full attention to my reading when I'm also listening to music. Also the other way around!

I can't listen to music while I'm reading as it 's too distracting.Sometimes I will play a nature cd and have sounds like birds chirping, waves, rain, etc. As long as it's real soft and soothing

I used to "devour" books as if they were food items, and usually they were pretty tasty. In a reading mode I most often used the kind of music that is sounds of nature, such as rain, or a running river, leaves blowing, etc. I no longer read as much as I'd like, but regarding Music, I absorb it, and let it envelope me, no matter the genre. Certainly I have selective favorites, but in a deep sense, music is a background for anything I'm involved in creatively.
Certainly it can be distraction at times, but not so much as having a TV on.
I use various forms selectively as well. When writing, I most enjoy classical, or somewhat mellow. When I'm painting it can be anything from hard and heavy to natural flowing sounds. In those instances it may just depend on the subject I'm working on.
In any case music is as much a part of my life as my heartbeat.
Good Question. Thanks
