I've always thought of Man O' War. Not only was he beaten only once out of 21 races, and that by a fluke since the race started when he wasn't even facing the starting line at the time, he produced some very sucessful offspring. In "Wikipedia" it says that Man O'War produced more than 64 stakes winners and 200 various champions. The two most famous were Battleship [1938 English Grand National Steeplechase] and War Admiral [1937 Triple Crown Winner]. One of his offspring, Hard Tack, sired Seabiscuit.

You're right. I forgot about him. He was the very essence of what a racehorse was to be.

I dont know why, but I liked Silver Charm, he won the first two legs of the triple crown in the mid 90's.

Horse Chestnut was a true champion. Have you read the book?

Seabiscuit was great. But, I also like Secretariat. And, his progeny also seem to do well in races. None of Seabiscuit's foals were good racehorses. He was one of a kind.

I always liked Man O War. I had a huge picture of him hanging in my childhood home for years and it always represented greatness to me. I also liked Native Dancer. I don't know that stats on either one of them but they are my personal favorites.
