Lots of NOSE BROWNING here in MYLOT

You I have been reading so many discussions here in myLot and have realized that lots of people here suck up and nose brown too much when responding to discussions. I mean you could agree to a discussion, but not to a point to be nose browning or sucking up to it or to someone, that's not going to earn you more money. It's a great way if you want to be get stepped over for nothing. It's nice to agree with someone, but by being a suck up. That's not going to make users like you better or more than others, because no here here really cares much and no one is better than anyone in here or have more respect than anyone. Everybody to me is just the same.

Oh, really? I haven't noticed that much myself. I do know I have people disagreeing with what I say but as long as they are not intentionally causing trouble, I definitely won't mark them down. I do know I have been increasingly frank to date. In fact, isn't giving your opinion that is contrary to what was stated one main reason for even wanting to respond? Hmm.. hang on... is that why my rating dropped from 10 to 9? Oh boy, should I start saying nice things that people want to hear? :P

Hehehe...funny one...no that won't play a role in your rating. But yes it's all about giving opinion, but some people don't really need to kiss a**.

Sorry hun, I haven't really noticed any *sucking up* exactly, the majority of the people on her seem to be quite happy to be involved in a discussion. What does get me is the few people who seem hell=bent on causing arguments

I tend to agree with you on what you say about some are hell-bent on causing agruments. I used to like being the devil's advocate, but here on mylot it does not seem like the wisest thing to do. I say this not because of the money issue but because of something terrible that happened here recently. I will not mention what the discussion was about but it was a rather heated one that appeared to be set up just to bash a particular person and their beliefs. Eventually, a secret from their past would be posted out in the open for all to see. I am sure it hurt them enormously. This made me a little more wary about playing devil's advocate, or bringing people together with obviously diverse opinions that could actually lead to having a real negative impact on someones life. For every action there is a reaction. And consquences are only as real as you acknowlegde them as not being mere chance accident.

I really haven't noticed this happening, but I haven't been around a lot in the last couple of months, so I may have missed it. If anything, I think this star rating system could be causing that happen, if it is. Some people are so afraid that they'll get a negative rating, that they won't say what is on their mind.

I don't see anyone brown nosing or sucking up to anyone else. There's nothing to gain from it, but I have to say, I believe people are posting how they feel and what they think. If someone agrees, it isn't brown nosing. So I don't think I see what you are perceiving to see.

Yes it's ok to agree, but sometimes it shows how people agree too much to point that they are sucking up. Anyway I see that, maybe you don't.

I have learned its better not to say anything if you don't agree. If you say something and say you don't agree with the majority. You just get stepped on and abused. People are really quick with that negative button when someone doesn't agree. I know its not supposed to be that way. Some people just do it and don't care. So if i don't agree with a discussion I just don't write a comment in it.

There is a way to disagree nicely and respectfully, if you disagree by provoquing and blasting someone, then you'll be be smashed and stepped on.

LOL, you don't know me very well then. I never smash anyone. When I disagree it is without judgement. But of course you were speaking of anyone not just of me. So you are absolutly right. There are people who like to abuse others.

I think that alot of the people on myLot are just really nice people.I don't think it is brown nosing to be respectful and just honestly answer the question. And if I disagree with someone I like to ask them to please not be offended and explain my reasoning.I just treat others like I want them to treat me. As far as money we aren't going to get rich here but it's a good place to post. I think we are lucky to have a place to post where there is not alot of flaming. Smile...it can't hurt!

;))) if there's anyone who smiles, it's me hunny. I like it here I like people here, but some are just too much. I never had any problems here or with anyone, but being way over nice is not really beleivable sometimes.

I have not noticed that on my posts. People say it how it is. Have you seen this a lot? On your posts, or other people's posts? Well, remember that there are all kinds of people of all races and ages, and they all think different. Some or new here, others old, and so forth. I just don't let things bother me at all on here. Only MyLot upsets me.

yes I saw some of this on mylot, I guess they just hope for a "best response" but for me I don't give a best response to such posts, more often it goes to people who don't agree completely and offer a good argument or a different view, etc..

i know it is really bad doing so, just being where u neither want to be nor anyone else wants u. i think there are so many interests here that anyone can just go to their own topic rather than poking their noses in other topics and discussions that they dont like. just a waste of tiem and energy. people are just crazy at times, thats how i reason it out:)

Some times the discussions are very good we feel happy getting people like them but every time we dont find people of our choice,so it takes time and brain to select discussion and respond them,we get tired reading all discussion and respond very few.

True and it makes sense b/c when you kiss so much tooshie your nose has nowhere else to go ;) And to this discussion: I hate to sound stereotypical but this is just from observation. I find that the Indians and other South Asians seem to be the brown nosers in mylot. It could be due to a culture difference b/c the British and Americans are more blunt than they are and we're thinking, "Geez, don't be so happy." It also comes in hand with getting paid (We want to stay, right?) and like you said, getting a high rating. I'm blunt myself and I find if I state my mind in a reasonable and intelligent manner there is nothing wrong with that. It's a forum and if there are no debates, what good is this place? It's what keeps the place going. I'd rather see debates than "Yes! I agree and you are SO right!" So I do agree with you that I do see that going on in myLot.

I've been accused of doing such a thing before. I just believe in being nice to others unless they have proven themselves not to deserve it. =p It's not about earning more money to me, but making friends, learning, and having fun. My greatest joy with talking online is meeting people different from me, and learning about their lives, cultures, beliefs, ideas, etc.

TOTALLY TRUE! Unless you use a negative. I did it once, and I believe the ONLY reason that day I ONLY made $.02 was that and I made about 20 posts! So dont do a negative EVER if possible! But other than that, I agree. I try to not just sit there and posts and agree. I posts to things I dont always agree with as well. I think its a good way to learn to argue and such. I dont think you should agree with EVERYTHING then you have NO opinion for yourself. And that is truly NO way to live!

I have to be honest, I haven't seen a whole lot of this. In fact the last few days there have been some pretty furious discussions and some rather upset Mylot members. I don't see the point of sucking up to others and personally I wouldn't do it myself. i have nothing to prove and I don't have to justify myself to anyone. There's a fine line between being friendly with someone and sucking up to them. I find that more often than not it's just members that are friends being friendly with each other rather than sucking up to them. This site is the same as anywhere else. You are bound to get a few people who think that by sucking up to some of the more "experienced" members that they'll get further. Unfortunately for them, Mylot doesn't work like that. To get places here, you gotta make the effort.

I try to only respond to discussions that I can reply to in a constructive way. I don't like to brown nose, but if all I can say is "Hey man you have a problem and you should do this because its a big bad ugly problem" I don't respond. They're just happier without my 2 cents if I can't find a nice way to put it. Don't forget, when possible it's best to at least TRY to be nice.
