what makes a camping trip successful?

Our family goes camping at least once a year, usually for a week. What makes a camping trip successful? And why do you think people love to go camping? I have thought of that many times. And the answer to both of those questions are entwined together. We go camping to get away from the day to day chaos of normal life. No thought of bills, work, tv, video games, school, traffic, ..etc We love the idea to focus on the family, the outdoors, nature, basics, relaxation.... etc When we go camping.. we pitch a tent as far away from others as possible. (and believe me... we pick camp grounds that have very secluded campsights!!) We bring basic necessities... a minimum as possible. We fish, swim, walk, talk, play games.... enjoy being alive and together. At night we make a fire,... sit and enjoy each others company. Once in the tent, we tell stories . So what makes a trip successful??? being together and having quality time with each other!!! Family!! Love!! God!! Nature!!

Up until about 6 years ago, I really hated camping. My friends had all heard me say "I pay a lot of money to live in a nice house, why would I want to pretend I am homeless for the weekend?". When I started dating my partner, that all changed. He really loves to camp & talked me into going one weekend when we were newly dating. I had such a great time. We now go camping several times a year. I think the biggest difference between the trips we now take and the ones from my past that were awful, is just the attitude of the people you are going with. If you go with someone who's short on patience, they're going to b*tch when the tent poles don't set up right the first time, or when they realize they forgot to pack salt & pepper or whatever. If you go with someone who has a "let's have a great time attitude" no matter what happens, you're going to have a good time. My only suggestion for things to bring along, is if you are camping with kids bring activities like games & coloring books incase of rain.

You are so right about attitude. However, all my camping trips have been wonderful. It started with my father and now with my husband and kids. One of the best times we had camping was a short two day trip. The second day a fierce storm rolled in that we had no idea was coming!!! We were all standing on one side of the tent trying to keep it from blowing away!!! It was really fun!! All in the attitude!!! LOLOLOLOL

Camping - Happy Camping
My partner and I often take off for weekends, throw the tent in the back of the car, pile in the sleeping bags in and our little cooker, and just go. Sometimes our weekends take us out into the wilds, or the mountains, or the beach, but we love it.

It is when everyone can relax and leave all the worldly troubles behind. Creature comforts so you are not really roughing it too badly. For us it is a solar shower. When the kids where little it was imprerative. Still the ability to let go and be just there and doing whatever you and the group wants. Food is better in the open air and the sleeping, ours with cots and sleeping bags, is wonderful with wildlife doing their thing. We are eager to get home but only after thoroughly enjoying ourselves first.

The one thing that can ruin your camping trip is forgetting important equipment. This RV travel checklist will help you in preparing for your camping trip. Bedding Pillows Plastic cover for pillow Sleeping bag(s) if desired Carrying cases for sleeping bags Camp Tools Broom/brush/dustpan Clothesline Clothespins Basic tool kit (including hammer, screwdriver, pliers) Knife Lanterns Shovel Flashlights First aid kit and manual It is recommended that you pack both light and heavier clothing so you're prepared for warm days and cold nights. Most RV campgrounds have laundry facilities so you don’t have to take everything from your entire closet with you. Rain gear is also a wise purchase. If you're not sure about the weather forecast where you're camping, call ahead or check the Internet for weather conditions. Now, you're ready to go.
