Do the Cubs win the world series this year? Boy I'm starting to like you, you like all my favorite sporting teams. LOL
The Cubs are another interesting project in the Chicago area. They just spent over 100 million on Alfonso Soriano, who is very good. But he has never played center field before, and that is one of the toughest positions to play. Not only that, but it is said that Wrigley is one of the toughest ballparks for a center fielder with all the wind.
Another question is will he fit into the lead off man role? I will definitely miss Juan Pierre and his league leading base hits last year. Not to mention all of his stolen bases.
Overall the Cubs to have a good lineup however, so it's hard to discredit them entirely. Derek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Michael Barret, Alfonso Soriano, and Jaq Jones makes for some good hitting this year.
On the pitching side of the ball, the Cubs have improved drastically I say. First of all moving Kerry Wood to the bullpen is probably going to pay off immensely. Kerry is just not made out for starting, but if he can survive only pitching an inning or two a night, then he can become a great closer.
Mark Prior is still a question, but probably the only question. I still think Prior is washed up and it is said that he was on steriods back in the NLCS season.
Wade Miller, Jason Marquis, Carlos Zambrano (The best cubs pitcher since Greg Maddux), and Rich Hill will make for a good starting rotation. Their is still Sean Marshall and Carlos Marmol who are up and coming.
The cubs have a shot at the pennant I think, and maybe a shot at the NLCS, but I don't think they will win it. Not yet. However I think they will outshine the White Sox this season.
:-P

Soriano did play center field when he was with Washington. He didn't like it, but he played it. It certainly didn't effect his bat.
The Big Z started slow last year, but did he ever turn it around after April. Was it 4 or 5 no hitters he was working on until at least the 7th inning. I just absolutely think he is a great pitcher. I like it when he gets the team pumped up, especially when he hits a home run. He puts 100% in to every aspect of his game.
Ahem, who are the white sox??? LOL

I don't believe in curses at all and I do believe they can win it all this year.
