I made this painting some time ago and I would like to know what you think. It is a reproduction of a painting by Tamara De Lempicka - a Polish painter of the 1930s - although I have changed the colours slightly. I would also like to sell it but I am not sure what price to charge. What price do you think I should sell it for

i feel your work is good. You should strongly consider expressing your own creation. i m sure it will be very good also. I cant tell you the pricing as i donno the dimensions and quality of material used, but it should go for upwards of 2 thousand dollars.I wish you all the best for your own cretions.

I think you have done a good job in painting and it is really very good. I am good at painting. I have not painted. I like to see good and beautiful paintings. I do visit painting exhibitions to see beautiful paintings. I am not good at judging the price of the paining, but I think you should sell it anywhere from 250 dollars to 500 dollars.

With all due respect I'm confused in that you offer two pieces of work and don't strictly say that the ANGEL is what you're asking about.(I get it by the way that adding an image may increase your pennies)
I've been an artist most of my life and with no offense, SELL isn't why you should be involved artistically anyway.
I won't be so disrespectful as to say it's a COPY, and shouldn't be sold as yours. I also won't try to degrade your work, as I believe anyone who expresses has levels of validity.
I would however, take serious offense at someone copying MY work, then attempting to pass it off as theirs, for profit.

My Dear Tinwolf,
I am not attempting to pass it off as someone elses work. I clearly stated that it was a reproduction and named the artist. Many people do reproductions - it's a good way to learn about other artists and how they paint. Lempicka was a famous artist of the 1930s.
The painting of the angel is not mine - it is the painting of the discussion category for "painting"

With all due respect I doubt I'm your DEAR TinWolf, but the Q was confusing in that you aske "do you like MY?"
To be honest No I don't have a feeling for that piece, no matter the Artist, but that doesn't make it less valid, or reasonable.
In my humble, experienced opinion there is no such thing really, as Good or Bad ART. It's a way to express, just as is poetry, writing, speech making, etc.

My God.. one tries to be fair and diplomatic but sometimes there really is no point
By using "dear" I was trying to be polite and friendly - obviously once again you have misinterpreted my words
I don't think I have ever put a more simple question on mylot. It is MY painting. If you knew anything about art or the artworld you would know that some of the greatest artists have used aspects of other artists work even to the point of copying and reinterpreting them.
Besides, it is quite a common practice to commission someone to reproduce a famous work of art - I can't believe you're not aware of that. There are reproductions of famous works in art and antique shops all around the world.
I also object to your previous criticism that art is not for selling - absurd - what planet are you living on? If you don't want to sell your paintings fair enough but belive it or not some people actually earn a living to do it - some people do it so they can pay the rent and put food on the table.
