Child molesters criminals or victims?

I was watching a program the other day on child molesters, that left me sick. Is it just me or does anybody else think that the laws seem to a lot of time protect the criminal more than they do the victim.
Who has the rights here who deserves the protection the child or the molester?
What kind of changes do you think they should make in the laws for this kind of offense?
What should be the penalty for such an offense?

wow..a touchy topic...
a child molester is a child molester...no matter how u put it. they wanted to be that way so they are that way...they search up little kiddies on the internet and try to find them in the real world...why the hell did they go out of their way to hurt someone else if they are a victim?
and the definition of a victim is a person hurt by a crime....who they hell made it being a child molester a person being hurt by a crime?

As a parent this is one of the topics that really worries me. I understand that there are molesters how have been victims too, and for them they need to get help and support and be incarcerated in a different prison were they are kept safe from the other criminals. But there are also the other kind of offenders who have not been molested and like to abuse kids for fun. For those I would really hope that they'd be killed, since they have no cure.

I agree it often does seem like the criminal is given better protection than the victim. I have heard that they get a bad time in prison because even most other prisoners object to what they have done, so often they are in protective custody.
You have a victim that is usually scarred for the rest of their life, then there is all the trauma of going to trial and that is even if they can face that ordeal.
Over hear we have a case of a child molester who when released from prison has actually been given a fully furnished place to live, they wouldn't say where he was located but of course the media found out and it turned out that the government in their wisdom had placed him only a few blocks from a primary school.
