I know I'm a 10 even if it doesn't show and we all are in one way or another. R

Are you making corsets? (not very knowledgeable about what else might have boning) What is the boning made out of? Is it something that a light coating of soap might help?

I'm making stays which is a kind of corset.I'm using plastic this time but I sometimes use the coated metal. The problem is the tiny space between the seams where I slide it into.I'm wondering if some people put them in before they are totally sewed but I'm afraid I'd hit the hard stuff and break my needle. Do you reenact?I do like to go to Fort Ticonderoga (about 5 minutes from me) to talk to the sutlers and sometimes I sell clothes if I have extras made. It's fun but I usually can't stay long because of illness. One of my son's into it in a big way. Raydene

Here's a site with corset patterns, supplies etc. http://www.corsetmaking.com/CMSpages/CMShome.html Could you leave just a tiny bit wider space for the stays?

Oh, just thought of another idea. Could you actually put the boning in, then sew it. Like putting a zipper in using a zipper foot, so you could sew very close to the edge of the boning.

i do not sew renactment clothes do you mean like sewing clothes for civil war renactments, or for plays, or something like that? it sounds like it could be something fun to do but with you saying that it is always such a struggle for you it seems like it is sort of stressful i do not know what boning into the stays means so no i do not know what a quick way to bon them but i am sure that you could look up on the internet some tricks for you to use
