Does anybody feel they're getting a good deal on their cell service?

I just added an additional phone to my existing cell plan and feel like I just gave them my kidney! How do they get away with charging so much? First you get charged a higher amount per phone unless you go to a plan with more minutes, then you have to sign a new contract for your additional phone. Who makes out on the sale? Not me. Anybody got a great plan for a great price?

Do you use your cell phone a lot? If not, do what I do: get a prepaid cell phone. I bought a cheap phone ($20), and I pay only for the minutes I use. All the major carriers have prepaid plans, I use Virgin Mobile. They usually have several options. My plan has no commitment, except to buy $15 worth of airtime every 3 months. I pay 25 cents for the first 10 minutes I use each day, then 10 cents/min after that. I don't use the cell phone much, so it costs me less than $15/month.

Thanks for that info, that's a great deal. I had a pre-paid card a couple years ago and I remember they charged $1.00 per minute. It was outrageous. I don't use my cell much usually, but, sometimes I do alot, so, I don't know if that would work for me. Right now we are having family crisis' but maybe when things calm down i'll look into the same type of plan. My other issue is I live in a rural community with bad cell service. A new tower went in about 2 months ago that enables me to use my phone at home FINALLY! so, now i may start using it lots more. I still feel like they get away with highway robbery to charge so much. But then I also looked at my land line bill, wow, that was outrageous too. So, i'll probably cancel the long distance on my home phone to offset the new charges on my cell.
