I got so worried when I heard this, I forgot from what source or if I am watching TV or something. Is it really true that the more frequent you have tonsilitis the greater the chance you will develop a heart disease or something? I, for one, frequently have it and it worries me. Can you affirm this?

This scared me. My son always gets sick because of his tonsilitis. He is get tonsilitis just by eating chocolate, junk food, ice cream. Or just by drinking cold water. Are there ways to prevent this? Hope you could put the link from where you have seen this. Thanks!

i asked the same question on yahoo! answers and here is the best one I got. "In some individuals, a streptococcus pyogenes infecton (strep throat)" can stimulate the body to produce antibodies that act against the heart(joints, among other things). This is known as rheumatic fever, and is the reason antibiotics are prescribed for strep throat (as they may seem to decrease the incidence of rheumatic fever... the sore throat goes away on its own regardless of antibiotics)..." That is by far the best one I got, I haven't really thought of searching the darn answer on the internet, (which I will surely be doing in a couple of minutes). Why not do some searching on your own? Or have your kid be examined by an ENT doctor or equivalent. Best of luck and God bless for you and your son.

I suspect that if you have untreated tonsilitis, you are more suseptible to heart disease, since thebacteria can travel into the lungs and blood stream, and can lodge in theheart, the same goes for an abcessed tooth.

I've read that once.... And it said " tonsilitis is a sympton of heart disease ," so if you frequently have tonsilitis why not have it checked. prevention is better than cure. welcome to mylot
