Lower middle order batting is very important, the 30 to 50 runs they make can decide the outcome of a close game. In 1983 India had plenty of allrounders who batted all the way down so team could easily post big totals or chase down big targets. Besides good low middle order can help post fighting total if the top and middle order fails.
I feel new zealand, sri lanka and south africa have stronger lower middle order compared to others as they have lot of allrounders, utility players who can chip in with both bat and bowl.
