Why is the Oscar Best?

When I was seeing the American version THE Departed, I recalled Hong kong version seen last year. The same story, different actors, I have been wondering if Hongkong went to Oscar, will it be the best? I prefer Hongkong.

I also like the Hong Kong version better I think they released it one time in theatres in America, but noone knew about it

I like the American version more leonardo dicaprio is one of my faviurate stars the character he acted is very amazing and the blood diamond is also very great I think he deserve a Oscar nod

I don't know. I don't think the Academy has given the Oscar to a foreign film. It could have been best foreign film.

The original producer of the Hong Kong film commented after the Oscar win that though he was happy with the win, he felt there was something wrong with the system, as the original was rejected for the foreign films category.
