Which do you prefer...lighter or darker skin? / myLot

I've always been light skinned. I'm a Filipina but more often I'm mistaken to be a Chinese, Japanese, etc. Maybe because I have chinky eyes too and also because of the color of my skin. I know Filipinos are known to have brown skin. I like my color and I would like to be more whiter or lighter. Some people say too light looks like you're too pale and you look sick. Some prefer darker because they look healthier. I believe black is beautiful too. Living in US, I noticed that Americans are not conscious on how to get whiter. They would like to be darker...I guess, so they get a tan or go to the beach often. In the Philippines, they loved to have a whiter skin. There's tons of whitening beauty products such as soap, lotion and even pills. So if you have given a chance to pick your skin color...would you prefer to have a lighter or darker color?

i used to be vain when it comes to my skin color. i always try new products which promises more efficacy in having my skin whiter. i spent a lot of money before just trying to have a whiter complexion. but when i met my boyfriend, he loved my skin color and he wishes for my color to stay this way. he made me feel more comfortable and proud of my skin. and since then, i no longer opt for doig so many things just to keep my skin lighter. all i do now is to make sure i have a healthy skin and put on moisturizers to keep it soft and supple. less stress, less worries and less cost for me! and i can have my finances more focused on more important things.

Thanks for sharing! I think brown skin is beautiful...it looks very healthy because it doesn't look pale. I know some of white people envied the Filipino color, they loved it!
