Nowadays the church doens't consider it a sin anymore. They advocate fasting or abstinence where you may omit eating or doing something that your used to do as a form of sacrifice. It does not neccesitate not eating meat but maybe doing good or sacrificing something as a form or your lenten sacrifice.

Okay, the "not to eat meat on Fridays" is actually a common sacifice for the community. Be rest assured, it's not a sin if you forget or intentionally eat meat on Fridays. Though in Canon Law of the Church, it is written that christian communities have to identify a reasonable common sacifice of a certain item, in this case red meat, as penance for our sins on Fridays. It varies from communities, but the common ones are not eating red meat on Fridays. So be rest assured, it's not a sin but it's good if you can try to do so. You can hold me credible on this, cos I'm a secondary level cathectist.

My parents always try not to eat meat on Fridays. Every Friday, in fact. So, since it's the Lent season, then it's already natural to us not to eat meat on Fridays. Well, if you forget not to eat meat, then it should be all right. Just try to remember not to consume meat on Fridays. Good luck!
