Frequent handwashing. sneezing or coughing into tissues instead of hands, avoid contact with others who are sick, plenty of fluids

I take either of the following: virgin coconut oil because it boosts the immune system and is anti-viral; apple cider vinegar and you can shoot down your cold or even a sore throat and bee propolis drops -- propolis is such potent anti-biotic. I live in the Philippines and frequent weather changes require that we be prepared to fight off any kind of bug.

You can take zinc tablets, get plenty of vitamin C, and wash your hands frequently. There are also some over the counter meds that are supposed to decrease the length and severity of cold symptoms once you get sick. I'm sure someone has more ideas but hopefully these will help you.
