Most of the affiliates and merchants are frustrated with too high minimum bids these days, for most of the keywords.
The CTR & ROI dropped drastically for many.
But somehow, after a lot of struggle and going through so many manuals I understood what's happening behind the scenes.
My CTR are as high as 10% and min. bids aroung 20 cents for most keywords.
So, I want to share my experience out here...so that new adwords users dont loose their money.
The major problem with most of us is, we start the campaigns without knowning anything about the adwords,
then we just bid too high on non-profitable generic keywords and loose our hard-earned money.
Then most of us will leave the arena without the fight and claim that Adwords is no more profitable.
Few suggestions for newbies :
Don't target on too generic keywords like "make money". Its one of the most expensive and irrevant keyword.
Be as specific as possible, while choosing keywords
Set min. budget for a day, you are comfortable with
Switch-off your content network till you are comfortable with it. You can loose big amount in a short time if you are unaware of content network.
Click "Edit Your Campaign setting" and inside that uncheck the checkbox "Content Network".
Specify the countries & regions for your ads
Add negative keywords like "-free" to save yourself from freebies.
I hope it will help you understand Adwords better
I request to the other PPC experts to please add your suggestions, tips etc
