Fee-Bay Strikes Again

Recently I signed up for an Ebay store and had many thing already in there. One was a carnival glass pitcher that I had two people bidding on. Then I got a letter from Ebay suspending my account! It took me two weeks to figure this out. They said I was associated with a suspended account from the past - but did not tell me one single detail at first. My rating was 100% and I buy on Ebay regularly. I was stunned and embarrassed. Several emails to them resulted in zilch. I sent them every cent they asked for. When I did figure out - it was an account from 2004! I had been very ill that year and must not have paid them a fee - or it was tacked on after I had closed the account. And, drumroll: the horrendous amount of the offense - $2.68. They made me feel like a criminal. I support their fraud section and think they do great to monitor people. But, this was different and they could have told me what was wrong. I guess $2.68 from 2004 was more important to them than the many dollars I spend on there!

That is terrible to go through all that for $2.68 cents. I will be careful in the future with e-bay as I like to purchase from them. At least you got a response telling you the problem so you could correct it.

Actually, I had to ferret out the problem myself. But at least I found it. There is a seller on Ebay who carries wolf t-shirts that I love. I buy those frequently and will miss him if they don't let me back on.

I use to own an ebay store but the listing fees are crazy. It use to be profitable for a small business owner but the fees make it almost impossible to place good prices for customers to buy. Thats just my 2 cents

Without selling anything but five hard cover books, I accrued $20.00 in fees. That is why I went for the store, but the fees really do make it hard. They have the advantage of owning that corner of the world, name recognition and so forth. What they charge is heinous and they are using people to grow rich themselves!

I had some run ins eith e-bay as well. I think their fees have gotten outrageous and their customer support is not what it used to be. You might want to give http://www.quty.com a try. They don't have any listing fees and the only time you pay a small 3% fee is, if your item sells. You can also link to your ebay account so people can see what your user rating is there and what you have listed there. If you are fed up with e-bay this is the way to go.

Thanks for the link!! $2.68 that they probably tacked on after I had no longer used the account! Their fees are ridiculous and the profit I made on several books I sold all went to fees.

I was doing Ebay for quite awhile but have since quit selling on there. The site has become flooded and the quality of merchandise has gotten worse. When we moved a couple years back I paid my account in full, closed it and we moved. A few months later when I went to re-open it they said I owed them like a dollar and change. They had held back a little bit so they could add an additional charge to it to re-open the account. I paid it tho I was furious about it. Now the only time I use it is to buy things never to sell. I do like that they started giving ppl an accounting report each month...it shows how much you made and how much your Ebay/Paypal fees are for the month...it showed how much money I was actually losing.
