I was watching the news and they had a news article
about getting the government involved
for charging the customer the high fees. Are
they are getting out of hand? Do you agree?
recently I paid one of my credit cards (1) day
late and they added 39 dollars for late fees. Are
they legal loan sharks? What do you think and
what can we do?

Hi bacpro and welcome to mylot.
$39 for being 1 day late, that is a little excessive I think. Problem is, is that they can do it and there is nothing we can do about it.....except for maybe take our business elsewhere. Only thing you can really do is make yourself very aware of all the credit card companies policies.

well, i don't think they screw or something its just that we have to be aware for the things we'll spend. And first thing, we need to know how they charge things like late fees, percentage, etc. know their policy so you wont be surprised some other time when unexpected things happen. we have to be aware in everything so we wont get busted. write down the list we spend to avoid accusing unauthorized charges.

i think there is only one good way to use credit cards. You have to pay the whole balance within the 45 day interest free periode. If you do not do that it is going to cost you a lot of money. If you need to make a purchase and pay it off a little by little you would be much better of getting a loan from your bank.

Yes, in a way they do take advantage of consumers.
But ultimately it is consumers who get themselves in trouble with poor spending habits.
Also, people must realize that making late payments is nothing to fool around with.
That can do damage to your credit rating.
