Applying For Social Security Disability. Any Advice?

I have decided it is time to apply for Social Security Disability. It is getting harder and harder for me to do things. I try to stay active but it doesn't take much to over do it. I have heard most people get turned down when they first apply. They have to appeal and sometimes get a lawyer. I have been told I should have applied a long time ago. I have a few of the diseases that are on their list as severe. Have any of you applied? Do you have any advice to help me out? I am getting as many of my medical records as I can. I would appreciate any advice you have.

I won't give up. I have lost jobs because of my Lupus. I have heard that most people get turned down the first time. I am prepared for that. Thanks for commenting.

Hubby became disabled several years ago and has a bone disease in which his bones are deteriating. He tried for 2-3 years to get his Social Security, he finally got it, not so much b/c of his disability as much as b/c he turned 50. It really ticks me off that he worked most of his life paying into it and had to fight like he*l to get it and ppl that have never paid into it get it so easily. !!HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!! **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~
