Sharon,
I hope my advice might help. You may not agree to some of it, but it's just advice.
First off you need to creat a plan. What i mean by a plan is a proposal to put together of what you think you can do to keep your collectors happy.
If you live in Canada its a little different, I know from experience that I put together a plan for each of them.
Remember not to ignore these guys, they are going to get more angry every time you ignore the phone calls.
Remember they are trained to make you feel bad, to make you feel like a pile of crap. But thats okay. Because with a plan you will look responsible, smart and determined to get things done. This will through them off. If you send them a plan in the mail, or you can explain your plan to them over the phone. Tell them that is the best you can do at this time. Tell them you will follow this plan for 4 months then get back to you to see what your status is. If its still the same then keep following that plan. Remember no collector will turn down a payment, even if its 10 dollars. They may not like it, but they are not going to take you to court if you are making payments.
If they are garnishing your wages then you need to see a Trustee. They can work something out for you. But if you are not willing to work with them, running will not get the situation resolved.
Be firm, have a positive voice on the phone, give them your plan and follow up with action. I know you can do it! Let me know how it goes.
Step 1 Plan (how you are to make the payments to them, show your budget)
Step 2 Give them expectations
Step 3 Have a follow-up set-up with them.
Remember to talk to them how you would like to be talked too.

I'm not, but my friend is. And she just screens her calls on the recorder.
By the way, did you receive my response to your message? It isn't working right on MyLot anymore. I hope you got it. Good luck and God bless. M&M
