Are You an Optimist or a Pessimist?

Hi,
I'm an optimist. I always see the glass that is half full and not half empty. I always look for the good in people. I greet people with a smile and try to always wish them to have a great day. I believe that negative people (pessimists) drain my energy and I tend not to want to associate with them. I truly feel bad for people who focus on the negatives instead of being positive and hopeful.
So with that said, are you a pessimist or an optimist? Also, do you know why you are one versus the other?
Cheers!! :)

I'm an optimist, too. Even when I'm going through bad times, I still wear my rose colored glasses. I think my optimism comes from the joy I have in Christ.
I've been around people that are always feeling bad, someone's out to get them, etc. They make me leave their company feeling bad, too. I try to watch for these energy zappers and avoid them!

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing. I can relate to exactly what your saying. I try to subtly encourage pessimists to be more positive. I believe I am prepared for negative things to come, but I don't need to worry, stress or focus energy on those negative things that may happen one day.
I also believe that being happy, laughing and being positive is better for your health (body, mind and spirit).
Again, I think it's important to help friends when they can't seem to get out of the negative thought arena. Sometimes people aren't aware of how it can be draining and not appealing to be around them when they just focus on the bad and the negative.
Have a great day and thanks again for your reply.

I tend to be a pessimist. Not about meeting new people.. we too try to meet people with a smile and wish them a good day. Just because we tend to think the worst of a situation doesn't mean we're evil or try to "drain" you of your energy. We are not necessarily negative either. I just tend to expect the worst, that way, when something good happens I am surprised and joyous. If the worst does happen, well then I am prepared for it aren't I.

Thanks for your reply and sharing your perspective. I have found that when I used to be a pessimist and yes, I was. It seemed when I thought negative, bad things would happen. So I decided to be happy, appreciative and stay positive so good things would follow. It has made a huge difference in my life.
I wish you all the best in 2007 and beyond!!
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. I really do appreciate it.
Take care!
