Incident on Public Transport

So I was on the bus just the other day, on my way home from work. The bus was rather packed, there was about 15 people standing including one woman who had a pushchair and baby. OK so these buses have their own dedicated bus lanes, so they don't get slowed by the traffic, so this bus was moving at quite a good speed. All of a sudden some idiot in a car pulls out in front of the bus, he was trying to turn right. The bus driver had to hit the brakes pretty hard to avoid him, everyone standing including me fell forward. Luckily I had a pretty good grip on the hand rail. Another woman fell into me, and I guess I had prevented her from falling to the floor. That was the most scary event that has happened to me on public transport. My Heart was Pounding. Afterwards I had a really interesting chat with the girl who fell into me. I thought it was quite interesting that an event like that can get you talking to complete strangers. Luckily Nobody was hurt during this incident.

It never ceases to amaze me how people can ignore the simple laws of the Universe. The bigger the vehicle, the longer it takes to stop it. I use public transportation quite a bit and I use to drive a 18 wheeled semi-tractor trailer. I am always amazed to see stupid people pulling in front of these vehicles, usually very suddenly, so that they won't miss the first driveway to the mall or whatever. If you drive a small car and decide to take your chances and cut in front of a bus, an eighteen wheeler, or other large vehicle, you will be the loser in the end. When you get behind the wheel, use your brain for more than a place to put your hair. Think out there or you will end up getting innocent people killed.

Why do buses have bus lanes? Buses only run every fifteen or twenty minutes, I don't believe that they need an entire lane to themselves, It takes up valuable road space for cars that is needed during rushhour, plus it makes the buses drive too fast, because they don't have to worry about traffic, the bus drivers treat the lanes like their own private racing tracks. A bus can easily reach 50-60 mph but they can't stop as quickly. I'd rather be a little late for work then be involved in an accident with a bus. (I just discovered we can't copy-paste into mylot, so i had to type this twice, lol)

Wow, that was scary! I've had a couple of close calls on buses, too. What I would do, though, would be to make sure that this incident has been reported. It sometimes takes a little while for people to feel pain after an injury. One of my incidents involved me getting whiplash, which I didn't start to feel for about 24 hours.
